L: Pours a pitch black color with a very small head and no lacing.

S: Dark chocolate, notes of dark stone fruit, dark roasted malt, some vanilla, very inviting.

T: Sweet dark chocolate, Tart cherry, dark roasted malt, vanilla, booze is well hidden and this beer is dangerously drinkable for the abv.

F: Creamy smooth and huge body.

O: This beer lives up to the hype.

Appearance - The beer poured black as night with mocha bubble crowning the pour.

Smell - Dark malts and a chocolate led the way.

Taste - Older vintages seem to be more sweet chocolate forward, while newer vintages resemble baker’s chocolate. Notes of black licorice and vanilla hints were also present. The malts linger nicely without being overly sweet.

Mouthfeel - The viscosity of the beer allowed the taste to cling to taste buds.

Overall - The is a well crafted Russian imperial stout that seems improve with age.

Oddly rated high. I love Surly, but this isn't that good. Has anyone rating this not had ten tidy?
Look: looks like a stout.
Smell: first thing I noticed was the complete lack of smell. I really had to take some deep sniffs to get anything. Coffee, chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow.
Taste: faint marshmallow, little malty, some coffee, some chocolate. Generally a "meh" as none of these flavors are hitting you. Have to say there is a decent alcohol taste - which I like.
Feel: feel is great, it's everything you expect in a Russian stout.
Overall I'm sad. I saved this for Saturday NFL games. Now I wish I cracked something else.
