Served in a pint glass at Flatlanders 2/22/07.
A: Served a rich, deep golden color. Small 1/2 finger head that leaves a minute amount of lace.
S: Nicely floral, piney hop aroma.
T: Big bitter pine flavor dominates the beginning of this. Mildly bready malt flavor in the middle that is followed closely by a tart citrus hop finish.
M: Dry, bitter, puckery, sticky, and oily at the same time. Refreshingly bitter.
D: This could stand a touch more malt for balance, but this is astonishingly good. What was once a pretty boring and pedestrian yellow beer has become an interesting and excellent APA.

The beer had a reddish amber appearance. The hops were very very fruity, but not just citrus-y so they must be using a variety of hops to get that effect. Thought the head was very thin and overall wasn't quite carbonated enough... It had a bitter flavor and a very bitter finish. But overall was a refreshing brew.

Stopped into this old haunt to sample brewmaster Art Steinhoff's personal touches and developments on the house brews.
Art has taken a once bland brew and turned it into a great representation of the APA style.
Golden to slightly amber in color with a thick white head.
A balance of citrus and piney hops in the nose masking any malt aroma that might attempt to fight back.
Resiny hop flavor balanced just right by biscuit malts to keep from getting out of hand.
Medium body with a sticky mouth-feel.
It's not Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, nor is it Dogfish Head 60 Minute, but it's all the same mix and becomes individual and distinct. Not to mention delicious!

(Served in an American pint glass)
A- This beer has a warm golden brown body that is a hint of hazy and a thick creamy head that last and last. There is no sign of any bubbles in this one.
S- The nice grapefruit hops smell is bright but a bit more smooth and mellow with a hint of toasted malt in the background.
T- The soft toasted sweet malt fades into the green bitter hops that have a nice grapefruit and pine quality to them. There is a faint cider note in the malt but it doesn't really taste like an off flavor or at least it adds nice flavor to the malt. The smooth finish has a nice green hops bitterness that hangs on the tongue just a bit after the finish.
M- This beer has a creamy mouthfeel with a slight watery finish.
D- It's not often you get to try the same tap beer side by side with the cask version so I took the chance to compare. This beer had nice flavors that were a little mellower but still great flavors. All the flavors seemed to be blended a bit more that the tap version but they were also a bit more pronounced as a whole.
