Clear garnet with floaty bits. Heavy aromas of scotch, sweet malts and toffee; chocolate. Woodiness and alcoholic. Complex. Tastes heavy. Toastedness, coffee, chocolate, sweet malts, and whiskey. alcoholic toasty smokiness, with a sticky finish.

Very complex. Not something that one can drink quickly but can be thoroughly enjoyed in small sips throughout an evening, much like a like a fine scotch! Says on here that it has been retired but my local beer shop has a load on the shelves from 2014 and I will certainly be picking more up next time I am there. Pours a beautiful deep, dark coffee brown colour and retains a nice off white head. A fantastic looking ale with strong aromas of coffee, chocolate, toffee and whisky (obviously). Mouth feel is superb. Highly recommended. If you like this kind of thing you will love this one.

2014 on the label.
Pours very dark amber, two finger head, leaves a lot of traces on the glass.
Smell of coffee, dark chocolate, toffee, whiskey (alcohol, rather than a whiskey aroma tho), wood, vanilla, roasted malts, faint raisin and herbs. So pretty complex.
Juicy first sip, with a bigger dark fruit component (nice red grapes, figs, plums, raisin) mixed with roasted malts, burnt sugar and toffee, sweet rich coffee (low acidity) and milky chocolate. Some spicy herbs, like heather and sage, help freshen this up. The alcohol is there, but i don't personally get a lot of whiskey notes, but rather oaky vanilla, dry dusty wood, a bit smoked too. Alcohol sticks till the finish, along with a mild roastiness and some subtle green/citrus hop bitterness.
Medium carbonation, pinching alongside the booze. Medium body, not really creamy and heavy, but smooth. Clearer whiskey settles in as it warms, so things get from great to even better. Alcohol still just warm.
A tasty scotch ale, rich and robust, should be great even aged in the bottle a little more.

500 ml bottle served in a brandy goblet poured a very dark Amber Ruby with a light brown 3 finger head. Aromas of Whisky, Toffee, Vanilla, Fresh Coffee, Milk Chocolate, Heather with a nice woody mossy very light floral tone with rich sweet malts & a gentle Oak flavor! You can pick out a lot of the same aromas in the taste just it has a slightly more toasty, smoky honey taste it's very complex and beautifully balanced! Smooth & thick with good carbonation.
