Notes: Sour red ale aged in red Burgundy barrels with raspberries.

This World Beer Cup Silver Medal winning beer is the result of many years of work. We wanted to create a modern sour ale aged in barrels that had the same complexity and depth of flavour that our favourite sours from the USA offer. After using a Belgian yeast strain to give a good foundation on which to build, we aged the beer in Burgundy barrels with raspberries for over a year. Adding cultures of Brettanomyces, Pediococcus and Lactobacillus at set points let us sour the beer gradually and give layers of flavour that only develop over time. The rich raspberry aroma and flavours complement the sharp sourness, which subsided for more malt and yeast character to come through. Lively, dry and thirst-quenching, this is a beer to savour; a complex and mature sour ale of which we’re incredibly proud.

375 ml green bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7%. Hazy brownish-red colour, moderate to small off-white head of poor retention. Lovely aroma of sour raspberries, ripe and unripe. Also notes of brettanomyces / farmhouse kitchen, oak, red wine and red wine vinegar. Medium sour flavour of brettanomyces, sour raspberries, oak and red wine vinegar.

375ml green glass bottle with champagne style stopper.
L: Hazy, tawny orange colour with a few streams of micro bubbles and no head.
S: Delicate aroma of cider vinegar.
T: Tart, raspberry flavour with a mellow, soft finish.
F: Crisp & acidic, not sharp or astringent.
O: A restrained, fruity, grown-up, sour red ale. Better for sipping and reflecting than as a summertime thirst slaker. Very good.

Hazy amber no head.

Amazing smell, like really amazing. The Bourgogne barrel is so powerful and so well integrated with the rasberry and the barnyard funk

The taste follows with a perfect balance, a clean sourness and funky character

The carbonation is fine and moderate. It's very dry.

Amazing sour beer. Seems like ageing has done wonder to it

Very nice sour beer, with some brett and oak on the nose and fruity tartness on the palate. Really good but more a sipper than a thirst quencher because of the sourness, complexity and also the ABV.
