500mL bottle (no date) poured into a Tulip Stout glass.

Appearance: Cloudy translucent gold to straw yellow. Slow pour to keep the sediment in gave a thin white head that died back to just a thin ring at the edge. No lacing but with some swirling to bring out the smell finally got some (tiny islands here and there) that stuck around.

Smell: Quite hoppy - lemon, grapefruit, maybe a hint of tangerine. With a swirl, the smell brings out some faint malt, skunk, and more of the above hop flavors. Probably one of the hoppiest English IPAs I've ever had. Nice.

Taste: Hop forward and hop dominant. Grapefruit, citrus (lemon and orange, but Grapefruit strongest) English bitter, very little in the way of malt to counter the bitterness, but just enough to make sure your mouth doesn't pucker into nothingness. If it wasn't for the mouthfeel and some of that classic English bitter flavor in there, I could be fooled into thinking this is an American IPA.

Mouthfeel: Light carbonation, a little bit watery, but the hop oils really stick to the teeth. Very English in mouthfeel except for the hop oils clinging to the teeth.

Overall/Drinkability: I really enjoyed the smell and taste on this one, but for the price I cannot see myself getting it again. Still, with all that hop aroma and flavor, I suspect this beer would be quite something fresh out of a cask so if that option was available, I would pay for a glass again. The only drawback, in my opinion, is that as it warms up to something more of an English temperature, it gets more and more bitter. Almost, but not quite, mouth-puckering bitter. Overall, an interesting take on the English IPA and I'm glad I tried it. As for drinkability - one glass (albeit a large one) is enough.

I bought this beer today at the LCBO in Ontario Canada 440ml at 5.9%.
Poured into glass with a 1 finger head slow carbonation Golden color .
Not overpowering with fruit flavours some but well balanced and smooth maybe zesty lemongrass flavor and pine with a low to medium bitterness level.
Overall this this beer is very enjoyable and nice to drink ..
Would definitely buy it again.
Cheers

330ml bottle pours with a nice white head on straw coloured beer. Smells of lemon to lemongrass and a bit of grapefruit. Lemon is the dominant flavour here while the feel is thicker than anticipated even though the beer is on the dry side (my thinking is dry tends to go with thin). A laid back metallic bitterness takes over by stealth after a floral interlude and then gradually fades out. Seems to get more bitter the more I drink though. Good but not revolutionary.

Third at Holyrood 9A. Clear golden pour, skin of head. Hoppy aroma, woody, grassy, pine. Taste is a light blast of hops, a pronounced bitterness, but in moderation. This what the IPA was all about. Beautiful!

Rerate, 500 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger (also on keykeg). ABV is 5.9%. Golden colour, large white head. Beguling and complex hoppy aroma with notes of grapefruit, mango, passion fruit, pineapple. Flavour: like first sample. Resinous finish. Distinct bitterness in the aftertaste.

Original rating: Cask at the GBBF 2008. Golden colour, low head. Lovely hoppy aroma with strong notes of tropical fruits. The flavour is a hoppy explosion of citrus and tropical fruits, on a distinctly sweet base. Long hoppy aftertaste. Very good.

Top: 1.5” white head, lasts for average time. Nice lacing remains.

Colour: it’s very light, straw in colour. Filtered, no haziness whatsoever.

Smell: it does need decanting, and even after, it’s not intense. Could be nearly anything, you really need to focus to spot some notes (lemongrass/pine(?) and something undefined sweetness).

Taste: lovely, decent bitterness, yet, not overpowering. Hints of lemongrass. Nicely carbonated (medium+). Very drinkable, doesn’t feel strong, although not as weak your typical session IPA. Refreshing with a dry finish.

Summary: if you think it’d be an aromatic hop adventure, you will be disappointed. Although 6 hops are listed on the side of the really gorgeous can, they are more like bittering ones rather than aromatic (by feel anyway). Easy to drink, it just needs more character, to be remembered.
