A 500ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2013. Acquired a while back from Trembling Madness in York. A collaborative brew with the Mountain Goat brewery, this is a mocha porter that has cocoa nibs, vanilla and coffee beans added during/after fermentation. Sounds amazing.
Poured into a Delirium chalice. Bottle conditioned. A dark chestnut-brown hue that appears pitch black in the glass. Produces a vast head of creamy light brown foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Appropriately, the result reminds me of an espresso. Aroma of rich roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, mild burnt grain, faint molasses, a hint of dried fruit, earthy yeast and just a touch of vanilla. Simply superb.
Tastes of intense roasted malt and coffee, with a lingering bitter finish. Notes of coffee, burnt grain, roasted malt, cocoa, molasses, mild dried fruit, a hint of liquorice, earthy yeast and a whisper of vanilla. Slightly sweet, with a strident, coffee-driven bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, thick and tingly, with nicely-judged carbonation and good body. Creamy and mildly spicy on the palate. Slightly astringent, with an aftertaste of coffee, cocoa, roasted malt and sweetness all blended together.
Sublime - a truly fantastic coffee porter. The ingredients are impeccably balanced. It looks great, while the aroma and flavour ooze roasted malt, coffee and cocoa. The bitterness is pitch-perfect. Lovely body. Goes down an absolute treat - I wish I had another! Too bad this was probably a one-off, but if you're lucky enough to stumble across it then don't hesitate to grab a bottle.

A: black with hints of a deep redish brown around the edges. Foam is beige brown, one finger high and leaves no traces on the glass.
S: coffee, tobacco, earthy and deep.
T: roasted malt, bitter chocolate, coffee, burnt sugar.
M: it's smooth, with medium carbonation.
O: a very good porter. Would enjoy it a lot paired with a good cigar.
Glass: snifter.

Collaboration brew with Mountain Goat. Poured from a 500ml bottle into a dimpled pint mug.
Pours a black colour with a nice tan head.
Smells strongly of coffee and slightly of chocolate.
Tastes bitter, burnt malts, coffee, slight vanilla and chocolate. Overly carbonated mouthfeel lets it down somewhat though.
Overall a pretty nice beer.
