Mostly clear, golden amber color. Foamy head with solid retention and lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit and butterscotch . Flavor is very hops forward. Grapefruit and pine, mango and tangerine. Caramel malt really smooths this one out and gives it a fine, bittersweet aftertaste. Floral accents as well. Dry finish. Despite the higher ABV, there is not much alcohol heat in this one. Very good beer overall.

Clear rich gold with three fingers of white head. Splotches of lace.
Smell is pungent floral and citric hops.
Taste is floral and citric hops with a modest amount of malt.
Mouthfeel is light to medium and carbonation is fine. Finish is medium dry and bitter.
Overall it is a tasty beer and very drinkable.

I created a Beer Advocate account so I could review this beer. It's that good. This beer is nectar. It is not a "highly quaffable beer." Don't drink it after mowing the lawn. Sip it slowly, when you have plenty of time. At 9.5% alcohol, you're not going to be gulping down one after the other anyway.

This beer leads with a glorious floral nose. Color is rich, golden, perfectly clear. It would be way too sweet if it weren't also perfectly hopped with 90 IBU, powerful hop flavor, and did I mention the nose? It has a rich, thick mouthfeel. This is the perfect double IPA.

Handsome golden yellow brew with fine-grained white foam in the Affligem chalice. Big aroma of mango, lime, and a whiff of gardenia. Flavors of passionfruit followed by deep woods pine and a lime peel finish. Moderately bitter but in keeping with the powerful alcohol content. I think of a gin and tonic.

This is clean and hugely aromatic and not overly bitter. It's another in the series of very good hoppy beers that Pelican keeps putting out. There are so many tasty DIPAs in recent years you get spoiled. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Haggen Market in Burlington.

Look: A clear, rich golden color with a lingering pale white head.
Smell: Tropical fruit, with a subtle dankness, and sweet malt.
Taste: Same as the nose. A slight alcohol on the back end, with a mellow lingering bitterness.
Feel: Highly effervescent, finishes clean.
Overall: A very good Double IPA. The Mosaic, Citra, and Centennial hops shine through. Pelican makes another winner!

Pours a slightly hazy translucent deep golden hue with a nice bubbly, soapy white head. Smells like what a malty DIPA from the west coast smells. like. Definitely feels and tastes like a west coast malt bill. Nice strawberry character without the tannins. Not too much bitterness. You don't taste the booze too much until the end, but you certainly feel it. Overall, it's a big beer that will clock you upside the back of the head without punching you in the face.

From a single into a shaker, pours a deep but bright golden apricot. Decent head and retention, with lacing just decent. Pretty aggressive nose: lots of bright citrus notes, a little candied sweet peel, light bready and sweet malt notes, with a little dank bitterness promised too. The taste pretty much follows...the feel is a little on the light side, and I couldn't believe the abv when I saw it...this hides the alcohol quite well. It is a fairly bright kind of citrusy/bitter double, and kind of unique in that sense. It doesn't entirely have the depth that really great double ipas have, but it is still quite good.

Grunt fill from Albertsons. Perfect remedy to a long hot day running a yard sale. Orange golden body with small, tight off white head. Orang-y citrus aroma with some piney resinous undertones. Taste brings the hop bitterness forward, with the caramel malts slipping to the background. Bitter, then sweet. Minor citrus notes at the finish. Hard to believe it’s 9.5%.
