Like the force of nature it is named for, Tsunami Stout will bowl you over with its jet black color and dark seductive aroma. Roasted malts and unmalted barley give this full-bodied brew its dense creamy head and distinct dark chocolate and cappuccino flavors that swell to a clean, rounded malty finish. Grab a Tsunami and head for high ground.

GLASS: Snifter
TEMP: Cellared @ approx 45 degrees

This is perfect appearance for a stout. It's as black as black can be. It has a thick head of creamy, fluffy, brown foam. So thick that it tried to escape the top of the glass, in a vertical manner. The head takes a long while to recede to a nice thick surface covering, over an 1/8th of an inch thick. The lacing is almost like curtains.
Visually, this is quite an impressive beer.

The nose is not perfect, but it's still very good. Big notes of maltiness, filled with dark roasted coffee notes. A wonderful lacto sweetness. Light hints of milk chocolate, vanilla and cocoa powder. A lightly earthy, almost woody quality lies over the whole thing.

A great big presence of roastiness dominates this one. Some mild lacto sweetness with a touch of vanilla caramels. Notes of dark chocolate-covered espresso roast coffee beans. A very light spicey kiss of hops helps this finish nicely dry.

Full-bodied. Very smooth, goes down easy, with a medium level of creaminess. Carbonation level may be just a touch too much, but it's still quite tasty.

This is a great example of what a good stout should be. It's deliciously smooth and easy drinking. The abv is very well hidden, also.
This is my first offering from Pelican and I want more.

On tap at Bathtub Gin & Co. Speakeasy. Straight from the bottle. Fairly strong but pretty good.

Had on tap. Brownish black pour with a light brown head. Aromas of chocolate, black strap molasses, light roast coffee and earth. Taste hits the chocolate hard, with the earth, molasses and coffee falling to the background while licorice, light char, and roasted malt step up to the plate. Feel is thin for an export, but appropriately dry, roasted and malty.

Poured from a chilled pint can. The nose jumps out of the glass. It is almost black in color, a super deep brown. The peanut-tan head did not perform well here, perhaps a glass error. Chocolate and roasted coffee nose. Bold but not incredibly complex. Paler malts detected despite how dark. On the palate there is graham cracker with melted chocolate, semisweet-semibitter. Moderate hops are balanced by the malt. It does have a milky texture, reminding me of hot chocolate combined with the flavor. Again, not super complex. It is a clean dark beer, surprisingly so for 7abv.
I am not enthralled by this export stout, but there are no problems with it. Middle of the road, it fits the style, but doesn't offer anything unique to bring me back.

Dark black , thick brown head with nice lacing. Smells of coffee, liquorice nice roasted malts. Medium bodied for a dark stout, but very drinkable. Taste good up front, coffee, chocolate. For the price this is the stout to my neighborhood.

12 oz bottle dated 10/1/20 poured into a pint glass on 12/19/20.

Pours a 3" light tan head. Opaque black color.

Scents of dark chocolate, coffee, dried cherries, and caramelized sugar.

Tastes like cocoa, espresso, dried cherries and caramel. A little lingering bitterness in the finish.

Smooth, but not velvety or creamy mouthfeel. More effervescent than other stouts. Medium-bodied.

An easy-drinking stout that hides its ABV. Smooth but not creamy. Standard stout flavor and aroma profile with an unexpectedly effervescent mouthfeel.

On-tap in Meridian ID;

A: Dark pour with a mocha-colored head that settles into an attractive ring.

S: Roasty aromas of dark roasted malt, milk chocolate, hints of coffee.

T: Roasty here without bordering into acrid/bitter territory; approachable dark malt/roasted malt character; impressions of oatmeal? I know there isn't any in the base beer but thats what I'm picking up...cappuccino, milk chocolate.

MF: Creamy and smooth.

O: This is a good one, definitely worth trying if you enjoy good Export Stouts.

19oz get wasted can, no canning date

What seemed like a smooth pour yields a massive 3 fingers of light brown head into my nonic. Very pillowy, with great retention. Initial lacing looks wonderful as well. Body is pitch black, even when held up to light. Looks great so far.

Nose is dominated with roasted malts. Burnt, bitter, a little mineral, a little creamy, British yeast. You mostly just get roasted barley, not really much cappuccino or coffee notes, like the can suggests. Noticeably clean. Extremely strait forward, but this smells good.

Flavor is pretty on par. A little abrasive at first, with those bitter roasted flavors coming out harder. After a few sips the palate adjusts, and this becomes really enjoyable. Very clean. Nothing crazy here, but this is solid and quite tasty.

Mouthfeel is pretty involved with this beer. Carbonation is on the lower side, no mineral feel,
definitely leans more towards being a smooth drinker, not quite creamy though. Bitterness plays a perfect role balancing this thing out, yet remains low enough to blend in well. Sugars are also balanced extremely well, not cloying in the slightest bit, with enough malty sugars to be palatable, a touch of dryness. Body drinks pretty light overall, though not too thin. Really lovely mouthfeel.

Drinkability is fantastic for a stout with a good amount of flavor and overall umph.

Appearance turned out pretty nice. Retention was far above average, and the lacing was pretty decent.

Overall a really nice beer. A great go to, and an easy drinker. Seems slightly more approachable than a true export stout, but I’m not complaining.
