Very little sweetness - slightly more bitter stout than average. Notes of cacao / bitter chocolate. Smooth. Excellent overall.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Black in color. Light brown head stands an inch in height, but settles after some time. Spotty lacing.

S: Fudge sauce, cocoa nibs, bitter dark chocolate, chicory. Good dose of roasted barley. Black coffee. Light whiffs of acrid char and smoke. Mildly steely, oily hops.

T: Lots of roast. Mildly acrid and acidic. Char and woody roast. Acidic black coffee. Bitter dark chocolate. Dark chewy caramel. Raisin and dark berries. Hop bitterness spikes middle to end, but doesn't bring much flavor. Hints of cocoa nibs toward the back, but acidic roast, bitter dark chocolate, and smoke lingers into the finish.

M: Big-boned medium body. Decadent, rich, and silky smooth. Mild roasted astringency. Fine carbonation pricks at the tongue.

O: A very respectable stout. Heavily roasty with a full and rich feel and fairly easy drinkability despite this. A meat-and-potatoes sort of beer. Hearty and it hits the spot.

Pelican Brewing Tsunami Stout - 6.9% abv. At Bullseye Pub.

A: dark dark dark with a creamy almost yellow head that lingers in a thin layer on top.

S: roasted grain, maybe caramel/vanilla.

T: reminds me of brown sugar, sweet roasted dark malt breadiness, vanilla bean, maybe a little hop presence but only mellows the sweetness. Roasted dark grain taste lingers on tongue.

M: bubbly, warming, malty, not too thick, kinda sugary.

O: a solid stout. Sort of caramelly and sweet, easy to drink versus some syrupier stouts.

Pours black with a large head.
Nose shows roasted malt, milk chocolate, soft bready notes.
More dry roasted malt as a flavour, some bready malt and soft booze. Moreish.
