Entering, the m.d.s. was directly to the left and bench seating was to the right. The m.d.s. included one of the most colorful, multi-hued collections of logo items that I had ever seen. Proceeding aft, the brewhouse and FVs were off to the left, followed by the long, dark wood, "U"-shaped bar. Wrapping around, booths ran down the right side and along the beach. Headed aft was a nifty nautical mosaic on the left, followed by the Haystack Room, a private meeting room all of the way aft and along the beach. The Outrigger Room contained all of their medals and awards. As a retired sailor, this was probably the best atmosphere in which to drink a beer that I had experienced in a while. It featured gorgeous view of the coastline. Bobbi K. was our great server. I had salmon, again.
Beers: Kiwanda Cream Ale; McPelican's Scottish Ale; India pelican Ale (IPA); Doryman's Dark Ale; Tsunami Stout; Heiferweizen (ha ha); and Surfer's Summer Ale.

Visited here about three years ago. This place has an amazing location and is well worth a visit. The Tsunami Stout was truly the highlight. I live in Chicago and was working in Portland for a week and decided to play hooky. Now, all I think about is how to get my hands on Tsunami Stout!!!

The location is stunning! Facing the Pacific ocean is a hard thing to beat in my book. The place itself is very typical of a seaside bar, that is not a bad thing here. The staff was friendly but, beyond the bartenders, they had a hard time helping me with their beer selection. Talking of which, the beer selection was fine. They had their regular offerings and their seasonal beers available.
As for the food, fairly typical of a brewery/pub. Nothing crazy but it was fine.
Quite enjoyable place to stop at.

Perfect day at one of the most spectacular locations on the Oregon Coast! After a morning of exploring Cape Kiwanda it was time for a beer so I left the wife and kids to play in the surf and headed for Pelican. The place had a big waiting list with all the tourists enjoying the weather but there was room for a single at the bar. They had around 8 beers none of which was too far above average. It was disappointing that they didn't have at least one brewpub-only offering. The family joined me for lunch and the food was equally unremarkable (but decent). Décor is typical tourist beachy, outdoor area was nice but I doubt it gets used all that much considering the typically iffy weather on the Oregon Coast.

Friendly staff, and excellent location. The beachside patio is something out of my dreams! Great food! If you have the chance, stay at the brewery's hotel. My only complaint would be that I was hoping for a more varied list of beers. Maybe some brewery exclusives and mother of all storms.

This place is too big for its britches. Charge to much for their beer and the wait is terrible to be seated for a meal. service sucks , they are just trying to tun and burn tables to seat the next patron that is fed up and justs wants fed.

Well, the location is certainly pretty cool... right on the beach, haystack rock, etc. the pub itself is more ordinary, it's got a pretty standard 90s brewpub feel. Nice enough, but nothing special.
They offer taster flights, but you can't pick your beers, which is a bit archaic. The beers we had were well made, but mostly unremarkable. I was quite disappointed by this as I knew of their numerous GABF and WBC wins and expected something pretty special. Unfortunately it seems that the awards speak more to their skill at entering competitions than their brewing particularly outstanding beers. Not that the beer was bad, but it was really no more than average.
The service was good, even though they were crowded. The food was good enough, but like the beer nothing special.
Overall, I left mildly disappointed, but my expectations were set too high by letting myself forget that GABF awards don't necissarily mean much.

Just about the best location possible. I quietly mentioned to my wife as we were relaxing on the patio, enjoying the view and the crisp and beautiful 60 degree air on this day in mid-January that I was about as happy as I could be. The only way I could be happier is if I was drinking a slightly better IPA.
The beer is good, not great. The food is greasy, standard pub stuff, nothing special. But the view, and the relaxed nature of the place, particularly on a not so busy day in the offseason, is worth a trip on its own.
