Cask. No sparkler. Amazed I've never reviewed this before. Light to mid amber. Clear with a thin dense head. Persistent lacing.
Toffee malt aroma with hints of stewed green vegetables.
Tastes similar. Mildly bitter.
Decent carbonation for cask.
Very traditional. Glad to review it when drawn from a cask and at it's best.

I drank this while watching the 2022 AFL Grand Final so my concentration was elsewhere. I did pick up typical English minerally malts with some honey in there, but the overwhelming impression was of peaches and pears. The beer is mildly bitter. Sorry, not much else to say!
Cheers!

Apple juice yellow with a very slight haze, and a puffy two-finger head that recedes quickly but leaves fat rings of lacing. Bread dough and a hint of caramel on the nose and maybe a whiff of the pear fruitiness promised by the can. The taste begins with said malts, but is nicely balanced by the gently spicy and slightly bitter hops. The Challenger and Golding hops, typical of a golden ale, are more prominent on the taste. The mouthfeel is light, refreshing, and very drinkable. Overall an outstanding example of what a golden ale should be.

A- Love the name and artwork on the can here!.....This pours a semi cloudy golden honey color and has an off white colored head that starts out about two fingers in thickness and eventually settles into a thick puffball of a layer over the brew...quite impressive! The carbonation from what I can see is reasonably subdued but it is somewhat difficult to tell and the lacing is rather sticky, as it clings well to the inside of my glass. Overall this has a very decent appearance!
S- The initial aromas are of heavy caramel malt sweetness with background notes of honey, bread/biscuit, lots of creamy yeast, slightly of banana peel/fruit, vanilla pod and slight leather. The finish has a very muted hop profile that does provide a little bit of a cleansing character.....classic English amber Ale aroma!
T- This has a rather well balanced flavor profile, with plenty of malt sweetness providing caramel/toffee/molasses flavoring, some slight tropical fruit, such as banana, some vanilla, various dried grasses and a finish that has a medium hop bitterness that cleanses the palate really well.....it lingers somewhat too.
M/O- This has a light to medium mouthfeel and the carbonation seems about as perfect as I'd like for the style....it is plentiful but not real aggressive....the alcohol is hidden well and the drinkability is high.....really a great session ale! I think this would pair well with a spicier dish or with a good cheese board. Will pick this up again and think this is an underrated beer....on tap would be wonderful!
