Bottle from Jan '09.

Pours a very bright straw color with a huge head that sticks around for a while. It's got an awesome lactic aroma. Very crisp smelling. If you told me this were a Berliner I'd believe it. The flavor only solidifies the previous statement. Super clean lactic flavor with a kiss of brett. I love the wheat in this beer. Awesome. Incredibly drinkable. Well done.

750ml poured to Jackie-O's tulip.

Pours a very clear straw yellow with a beautiful head that lights atop. The head is absolutely pure white and very inviting. Not much lacing is left behind despite the everlasting 1/2" foam cap.

Smell is a wheat and fresh squeezed lemons. Not much too it, but nicely done.

Taste is just like the smell. Extremely simple and exactly what you'd expect when buying this bottle. Light tartness from both the Brett and lemon zest that coats the big wheat characteristic.

Mouthfeel is phenomenal. Light and crisp, perfect for a summer day. This is the perfect pairing for post season baseball.

Very nice offering, but I would like a little more flavor profile on this one.

From my beer journal. Reviewed on October 9, 2011.

A: Slightly Cloudy, straw yellow beer. Nice looking carbonation. Big foamy white head. Looks great and sticks around.

S: Nice tartness and lemon. Hint of wheat.

T: Tart up front. Hint of brett, but only just a little bit. Big lemon flavor and finishes tart. Nice dry finish.

M: Light body with nice carbonation.

O: Refreshing, but not a lot to it. Tasty beer. Perfect for a summer bbq.

Poured from a 1 pint, 9.4 oz. bottle into a pilsner glass. Color was light golden, but not quite pale. Looked a bit like lemonade or pineapple, or maybe a mix. About ½ inches of head. Minimal lacing on the top that dissipated very quickly. No film on the sides.

Smelled a lot of different flavors, including pears, apples, cloves and a touch of puke. If not puke, then sour beer.

Tasted very sour and tarty from the get-go and right away I noticed a lot of carbonation. I also got the pears, which I smelled so heavily before. The cloves try to make a late run of it, but it wasn’t too strong. Overall pretty tarty.

Medium body. Oily texture. Fizzy (high) carbonation. Astringent finish.

This was my first ever sour beer. At least that was what I’d call it. It has its moments, but I’m sure others must be better. Maybe I’ll go back to this after I try a few others.

Poured into tulip glass.

Appearance: Hazy straw color, pours a thick white head that slowly fades, moderate amount of lacing.

Smell: Sour, Lemon, Sightly funky.

Taste: Sour, Lemon, Lime, a hint of wheat, and some grassy/earthy notes.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, tart, good carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: A very good beer. Extremely refreshing, sour but not overly so, very drinkable.

750ml bottle poured into New Belgium globe

A: Poured a nice crisp golden with about 2 fingers head

S: Smelled tart and kinda lemony and definitely full of Brett

T: This was a really pleasant beer for a warm day. Seemed more of a wild ale than I was expecting though I was happy about that. Nice lactic acid tones throughout and very well balanced

M: Light mouthfeel with a medium amount of carbonation.

O: More of a wild than I expected and would certainly encourage fans of the wild ales to give this one a try. I would love to have more access to it and will be picking up a case for the summer next chance I get.
