Up front: I do not like Lucky Lab, and sometimes I get irritated when others don't dislike it as much as I do. The first time I went there I wanted to like it, but nothing about the place really satisfied me. Worse, certain things really annoyed me, like some of the servers who are obnoxiously hipster-ish. But what really turned me off was the beers (at least those that I tried), which were underwhelming at best. If the beer isn't good, then the rest doesn't really matter as far as I'm concerned. They DO make decent pizza. Hurray, big f***ing deal; lots of places make decent pizza. Nothing to write home about.

I never choose to go to the Lucky Lab. Rather, I end up there sometimes when visiting with my fiancee's friends. To be fair, I recommend you try Lucky Lab at some point if you're new to Portland: some people like the place alot - especially, it seems, those with young children. But I do not recommend you go there if you're looking for some of the best beer in town, 'cause it ain't at the Lucky Lab.

A real life Portland hipster will serve you craft beer while ironically wearing a Coors hat.

A Sunday afternoon probably not the best day to review this place. Kinda dead, but slow service. Bought a t-shirt, only to realize when I got home (2000 miles away) it was not the one I had asked for. Great beer selection, nice food. Portland has lots of great choices. Glad I stopped in.

This was stop #25 for my wife and I on a 21-day pub-crawl from Michigan to N. CA and OR. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy their beers and to have dinner. The pub is located in a storefront building along a busy, one-way street, and there is parking in the rear as well at the curb. The interior is a large open area that eliminated any cozy feel that we like in a brewpub setting, but it wasn’t industrial feeling either.

We ordered a sampler flight of 6 of the 12 beers (two of the 12 were also available on nitro/cask plus a guest beer and a cider were listed) plus our food at the counter, and chose to sit on the rear porch (actually, it’s like a big loading dock). We sipped the beer until the food arrived. The beers were all above average to their respective style, and the Superdog IPA was notable as the best of the group. (The Black Lab Stout was not roasty enough for us, but it was still a good beer.) The food menu was typical pub food items, and what we ordered was tasty but nothing exceptional.

This brewpub is worthy of a visit (and a re-visit by us), but there are many others that we would try first before returning here.
