Pours a clear brown with reddish hue and a medium head that dissipates to a thin layer. Nose is quite malty with some brown bread and molasses...certainly the nose of a beer that is much bigger than 4.7%. Taste is more traditional and subdues with lighter syrupy malts and a touch of residual sweetness. Overall, a pretty good beer.

Enjoyed on draft at the Munich Haus in Chicopee poured in a proper 1/2 liter mug
A - Shade tobacco colored back drop, massive mocha cap, carbonation is steady and unrelenting.
S - Light smoked malt, a touch of roast, and caramel
T - Very much like the nose, a bit more munich malt on the palate.
M - Near perfect, dances across the palate, leaves a semi sweet, dry finish.
O - A German delight, so glad to have had the offering at a place that is careful how they treat their lagers.

Deep amber to reddish color with a big frothy tan head. Big extra toasted caramel nose that follows in the flavor. Rich, medium feel and still very easy to drink. Just a wonderful example of a true German dark lager. Prost
