Pours a hazy brown color with a nice big dark tan head that slowly subsides. Sweet chocolatey notes with some very light fruit scents in the aroma. Nice opening chocolate flavors that soon begin to feel a little watered down. Definitely a little dissappointing since I've tried others that were very full flavored from this brewery. Just very thing and watery with no real yeast flavors and no wheaty graininess either. Thin and not nearly as full in the mouth as it should be, again, dissappointing. I could drink this beer but I'm not sure why I would want, there are some many better tasting dunkel weizens out there.

Fromthe bottle, it pours a clear amber color with a modest, soon diminishing head. Lacing. The nose gets a dose of malt. The mouth, the same, with notes of bitterness.

November 2007: 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger, as (Marke) Weltenburger Hefe-Weissbier Dunkel. ABV is 5.3%. Despite using the "Marke Weltenburger" label of the Bischofshof-brewed beers, and not the "Weltenburger Kloster" label of the original monastery brewery, the rear label claims that this bottle has actually been brewed and bottled in the Klosterbrauerei. BB date 21.02.08. Hazy brown beer, huge off-white head. The moderate aroma has a strange combination of brown bread / bakery and citrussy notes, hints of cloves. The flavour has malty and bready notes, again combined with citrussy / lemony notes. Relatively light bodied and easy drinking. I had it on its own, probably nice with a light meal.

Murky, reddish brown appearance with a large, fluffy, off white head and a fair amount of lacing. Laid back, fruity, malty aroma. Flavors of soft fruit, spices, yeast and toffee. Smooth, medium bodied mouthfeel with decent carbonation and a lingering finish.

The labelling has gone from the illustrated trad-style to far more basic/simplified.
L- Like dark honey, cloudy, pours with 2mm off-white head. [ps head holds well, forms lacing].
S- Mild, maybe just some malts.
T- The taste if mild too, this is my 2nd beer tonight, the first was a pale Wit/Weisse so my palate can't be that 'unfresh'. Yet I get very little from this, despite it being a Dunkle.
F- It seems light for 5.3%. I do get some mild richness, and carbonation the mouth is good.
O- Disappointing, I was surprised to get so little from this despite the 'Dunkle' and the usually sufficient 5.3%.

Not one I'd buy again. 500ml bottle BB: 21/04/2021. Bought from BeersOf Europe for home delivery.

500 ml bottle from Capital Market in Salem OR.
$3.80
Large head at the first pour, eventually settles down and we have an attractive chestnut brown body with a thick and frothy light beige head.
Nice sweet malt and honey aromas are strong..then get a bit of spice and over ripe banana..
Taste is similar and well balanced..maybe a bit of licorice in the back ground.
Mouth feel lets this one down..starts of ok medium, nice carbonation..then quicky fizzles out to watery.
Nice beer though. despite the finish

It pours dark copper-brown with a nice pillow-y head that eventually reduces to a shallow film of foam. The aroma is fruity with notes of black licorice. The taste is pretty mild and predominantly sweet with lots of caramel, toffee and molasses. Not much bitterness. Very light bodied.

Light brown color. Cloudy. Small head with light streaking on the glass.

Banana and darker (toasty) malt aromas.

There's a light roasted malt flavor combined with banana. Thinner body than the helles version along with a higher carbonation.
