Poured into a large Schneiden Weisse glass. A nice golden color, with a one finger head with a full retention. The smell of sweet malts, and a bread like component. The taste is what impressed me with this surprising brew, dried banana chips, with a hint of vanilla, some caramel notes, with a marshmallow ghost, finishing with a somwhat dry, astringent finish. Just the right carbonation to set you up for the next sip. A lot of "bang for the buck" for this type of beer. One of the best largers I've ever had. A class act!

The fourth and final in my series of reviews of the new Barons beers that just hit Birmingham. Fortunately, this one's a winner. Crystal clear golden color. Crisp and smooth. Perfect Saaz hop bite. Nothing funky or out of place. Maybe this one will convince some folks that Australia has much better beer than effing Fosters.

a. Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a clean glass.Semi hazy, wheat like appearance with nice froth.

S. Bready, doughy yeast and some noble saaz-ish hop in the aroma, malts subdued.

T. A nice mix here. Roasted grain, scottish style malting and a light lemony hop. Slight mineral/metallic edge. Robust and flavorful, very well done.

M. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth and lends one to long for another sip.

D. Possibly the best Vienna style lager Ive come across. Wish I had more than one bottle, this beer beckons for extended sessioning.

A: Hazy yellow with minimal head and lacing.

S: Sweet malt with a good bit of bread in the background.

T: This one is mildly sweet starting out. The finish is quite interesting for me. You get a quick sweet malt then finishes with a huge citrus smack at the end. A small amount of metallic aftertaste at the very very end though.

This was an interesting beer, and I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It has a pleasant aroma with a nice crisp taste. I could buy a case of these for the summer months.

Appearance is slightly dull golden color. Very fizzy with a thin head.

Smell of bread with a tad bit of sweetness.

Nice taste of bready malts and a slight hop to it. The hops taste very European. As the taste is, the hops are from Czech giving this lager a taste somewhat like Pilsner Urquel.

Very crisp mouthfeel. Almost sharp on the tongue.

Very refreshing beer. Nice taste for a lager.

A standard golden amber color, clear and bright. The head is pretty minor, just a little white fuzz with a bit of lacing. The aroma is a slightly bitter malt, a bit grassy wheat-like smell, not a typical dull lager so far. The taste is a fairly interesting bright lemony wheat with a deeper rye bread hint. It's got a little bitterness, very drinkable, modestly carbonated but still spritely. It has some complexity, but is generally a nice refreshing lager, a pleasant surprise and worth a try any time there's a discriminating thirst to quench.

A - Poured out a highly carbonated, orange-yellow color with a two-finger, white foamy head that left soapy trails of lace.

S - It smelled of burnt toast malt with a subtle grassy aroma.

T - It tasted spicy and sweet. Nice balance of sweet maltiness and some light hops.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium-bodied beer.

D - This is a nice Munich Helles lager. Very drinkable and quite sessionable.

11.2oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a golden orange color with a white head that possesses pretty decent retention and lacing qualities. The clean lager aroma features some slightly biscuity malt and just a hint of hops. The taste consists of slightly toasted biscuity malts with a subtle yet spicy hop finish. Overall, this is pretty much exactly what I am looking for in a lager. Clean, refreshing, and some flavor. I would definitely consider purchasing this again. Recommended.

Pours a clear, golden color. One inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of pale malt, sweet malt, yeast, slight hops, and some grain. Fits the style of a Munich Helles Lager. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of pale malt, pale hops, yeast, and slight sweet malt. Overall, a crisp, full-bodied, easy drinking lager. Makes a good transition beer for those who only drink light lagers.

Poured a slightly hazy dull golden color with masive white chunky head.
Smell is very light with a hint of floral aspects.
Taste is refreshingly malty combined with a nice hop bitterness at the finish, which become stronger with each subsequent mouthfull.
A pleasant suprise. This is a nice lager beer with a good taste profile.

A - Pours a clear yellow / gold. Got just a little more than a half inch head that was gone fairly quick. Lacing was good.

S - Has grain and caramel on the nose. There is also a mild yeast aroma in the distant background. Not much else to pick up.

T - Malt is the flavor that comes through first. A little bit of bread and caramel followed by a hop bitterness that almost gets by without being noticed.

M - Medium bodied and smooth. Carbonation was good.

D - Drinkability is good. This is a really good lager that I would be more than happy to try again.

I have turned into a bit of a Baron fan...
Firstly, appearance is a slightly darkish gold, poured with no glass tilt to get a nice head. Head quickly disappeared but some slight lacing, & carbonation. Quite cloudy (although this batch was past its useby)
Aroma is a little malty & sweet, though not a strong aroma.
Taste was the exciting part (as usual), I found it to be very sweet (nice sweet, not sickly sweet). Darker malts were present...with a little hoppy bitterness that linger a little more than their ESB.
Mouthfeel was also very nice, with lively carbonation on the tongue leaving it not too heavy.
A very smooth lager...enjoyed poured into a pilsner glass.

Picked-up at Perfect Pour in Columbia, MD (one of the best beer stores in Maryland, by the way). Nice hazy golden color, decent head retention. Smell is mild hops, with a lot of fruity (lip smacking, mouth watering) hops in the first sip. Rather well balanced, but definitely a session beer. Quite drinkable. Worth trying.

Pours a predominantly golden color with some amber tinges, topped by a thin white head that leaves a bit of lace. Aromas are of thick, juicy grain notes that carry a tinge of sweetness. Think bread and marmalade, or even a toned down version of marmite. On the palate, this beer is pretty robust for a helles, maybe too much so: the middle of the palate is just a tad too sweet and mouthfilling, although the hops do reassert themselves in the second half as the beer regains balance. Overall, this is nothing revelatory, but it is a decent beer -- a flavorful, medium-heavy lager with solid flavors. Decent execution all around.

Appearance - Poured a clear golden color with a thick white head which disappates quickly. Lacing was present but minimal.

Smell- Grainy with a hint of malty sweetness.

Taste- The sweet maltiness comes through first with a hint of breadiness as well.

Mouthfeel- Medium body with medium carbonation.

Overall- This is a good drinking beer. Nice beer for the heat of summer.

Single, twelve-ounce bottle just copped from Gary's in Madison...
Pours a clear, lucid, light-golden hue with a very minimal head that rapidly receded and deposited a very thin film of lacing around the edge of the serving glass...
Uncharacteristically strong and assertive lager aroma replete with a raw earthiness, bread, and butter...
Taste strongly paid homage to the aroma, very crisp and refreshing along with a unique earthy flavor...
Good mouthfeel, along with an equally good level of drinkability...
Nothing above and beyond, yet still a decent stab at the style...

Pours a cloudy light gold color with a decent amount of foamy white head that takes a while to fade and clings to the glass all the way down. I'm smelling some yeast, and some noble hops (the saaz mentioned on the label, probably) and a little grassiness, not bad at all. The taste is fairly clean, but lightly malty and just as lightly hoppy, very balanced and pleasant. Mouthfeel is light and pretty creamy. Overall, it's a very drinkable, and so far tonight, Barons is 3 for 3 with me. I'll be looking for more of their beers.

Drank on tap at Berry Hotel, NSW.
Needed to drink six schooners to get the free t-shirt....
My initial thoughts were Euro lager, with dominant sweet-ish pale malt and some light to medium hopping. Not much bitterness, and leaving a mouthfeel that was slightly heavy and cloying. But all up, not a bad on-tap option....

Poured into Sam Adams BL glass. The appearance consists of a pale yellow, plenty of carbonation, and a two finger head; moderate lacing.

Faint whiffs of banana bread, crisp hop, and sweet malt. In general it's a very clean smelling brew that doesn't radiate much odor.

As expected the beer is very crisp and bubbly on the palate; pretty slick. A creamy malt presence that conjures up caramel malt, lemongrass, faint piney hops, and pears; a little peppery as well. The mouth is left with a mild lemon flavor and a moderate dryness.

This offering makes me appreciate the Helles style much more. This one would be a nice session beer and a beverage to offer up people who shy away from craft brews. A solid hot weather beer as well and hope to see it again after a day spent outdoors.

12 fl oz bottle

A- light golden color with a nice almost pure white head

S- Sweet, almost fruity aroma.

T- Malty sweetness on the front with a faint hop blast in the middle. Sweetness lingers on the palette.

M- Light body with a crisp finish

D- Not a bad lager. The cloying sweetness can grow tiresome on the palette.

Pours a crystal clear straw color, a shade darker than Bud, with an average white head that dissipates fairly quick. The smell has a bready/cracker like maltiness and has a hint of the Saaz hop spiciness, nothing very distinct. The taste is fairly light, slightly bready malt with a hint of spicy hop. The feel is moderately bodied, not overly carbonated, overall pretty balanced beer. A good beer nothing fantastic, pretty light and refreshing for a humid summer day.

Pours a perfectly clear straw with a one finger head off a fairly firm pour. Nose is a slight toasted earthy edge. It calms down fairly quickly, and takes on a more subdued tone. Flavor is a bit thick with malt character. Leaves a cooked aftertaste in the back of my mouth. Has an earthy character to it that seems a touch unrefined, but overall still good. Feel has a decent carbonation that coats the tongue and the liquid is fairly smooth as well. Overall pretty drinkable. I probably wouldn't go back to it, but it's not a piece of trash by any means.

Barons Lager pours a pale orange color with a white head from a brown twelve ounce bottle. I can smell a bit of malt. Nice malt flavor and a touch of spicy hops are noticeable. This is a simple refreshing beer that is worth a try. Sessionable, as a beer of this style should be.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear dark gold with a medium white head that recedes quickly. Smells of sweet, grainy malt and faint grassy hops. Taste is weighted towards honey-like malt. Light hop flavor towards the end with mild bitterness. Moderate body. Nice lager.
