Not bad. Golden amber in colour although hardly exciting. Nice thin persistent head. Lots of aromas lifting off the nose; lemon, spice, almost confectionary-like. Palate nearly as good, and very similar, bit quite there. The lemon and citrus loses its intensity and the beer mellows out into a mild lager. Still, won’t be a bad summer drink.

Single bottle picked up at a Canberra liquor store. BBD: Sept 9th, 2011.

Poured into the closest approximation to a beer glass I could find in the hotel. Pale golden, initially clear and sparkling but the swirling of the sediment yielded a nice opaque consistency. Good frothy head, lots of lacing.

Nose is lemon, herbs, grass, a bit of soft wheat malt.

Pretty tasty brew, enjoyable on an autumn patio, but the lemon flavor is a bit artificial tasting. Finishes with a grassy hop kick.

Slightly creamy, zippy carbonation.

A decent witbier, a bit heavy-handed with the lemon flavor, but still nevertheless a good warm weather drinker.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with about 1cm of white bubbly head that fades away pretty quickly. Smells of yeast, lemon and something else I can't quite place, I guess it would be the myrtle, maybe mixed with dish soap. Tastes lemony and yeasty, pretty much as advertised. The mouthfeel is fizzy and weak. I probably won't be getting this again, it seems like a good idea on paper, but I can't help feeling it's like hoegaarden with lemon dish soap.

Glassware - Corsendonk Tulip

Appearance - Poured with a HUGE white head that caught me off guard and flowed out of the top of the glass. Not a very pretty head but there was a lot of it. Unfortunately it did not leave a whole lot of lacing on the glass (inside or out.) Pretty light colored and cloudy, a nice light golden color.

Nose - Lots of wheat with some lemon/citrus aroma as well. Having never seen (or smelled) a lemon myrtle plant I can't say if that is what it smells like but I imagine it is.

Taste - So I guess this is what it lemon myrtle tastes like? It is distinctly lemon but there is also a floral quality about it that comes off a little soapy to me (as do most floral beers.) There is also another spice in there that I can't quite put my finger on but it is familiar. It is a little tart from the lemon flavor which is nice in a refreshing kind of way.

Mouthfeel - A bit thin but not really watery. Lots of thin carbonation and a tart (puckering, but not astringent) finish.

Overall - Pretty solid beer, tastes good and has a nice enough body. The nose could use some work (if it smelled how it tasted I would be all over it.)

Appearance - Cloudy gold. 2 fingers of head which reduced.

Smell - Lots of sweet lemon and spices.

Taste - The lemon myrtle is probably the first thing you'll notice in the taste - it is surprisingly strong. The wit/lemon myrtle combination works very well though, as the flavour behind the myrtle is also very citrus-like and spicy. If anything they should reduce the lemon myrtle presence, but I don't really have any serious complaints with the current recipe.

Mouthfeel - Very good texture and carbonation.

Drinkability - A little below what I would expect from a witbier, but still very drinkable.

Overall - This experiment is a success. Well done Barons.

I've had a few of the Barons beer and nothing really jumped out, but I have to say that I truly liked this beer. It looks good, smells a little lemony, but overall very drinkable. This is a solid beer to have a few on a hot day, you won't be disappointed. The problem with these guys is that these beers aren't widely available out here on the West unless you get it at a discount store for like $4.99 a 6-pack, good price for us but a disservice to the brand.

Pours with a ridiculously huge frothy head that dissipates extremely slowly. The lacing is average; the head wasn't that pretty to begin with, just really large.

Smell is very citrus-like as expected. Lemons and limes are the main proponents followed by some orange aromas. Coriander present without a doubt.

Very sweet immediate taste when sipping. Quickly turns into lemony flavor with absolutely no alcohol taste in the back. A bit lacking on the complex flavors that I expected when I was looking at the bottle, but still not bad at all. A decent beer in terms of taste.

Mouthfeel is light and a bit 'stingy'. Dont know if I like it too much.

Drinkability is definitely high as this is a light brew and many could be downed without problem.

Overall, decent. Would buy again, possibly, but not often.

Pours a very ordinary gold colour with minimal, non-resilient head. Slow progression of bubbles. Lacing is pretty good and is by far the highlight. Densely webbed although not too sticky. I don't know about this. If this is the 'real Australian' version of the witbier then give this Aussie a Belgian any day.

Very interesting nose. Citrus yet not acidic, very sweet and candy-like. Smells quite like those hard-boiled lemon sherbet sweets one used to get from ye olde candy shoppe back in the golden days of yore. *sighs nostalgically* Very tartaric, has an almost bubblegum sweetness as well, all good characters but not very much in the way of ordinary beer aroma. No spice either. Interesting but not very impressive.

Similar flavours on the palate. A taste quite cognisant of artificial lemon flavouring with a sweet but tangy front-to-back. There is a slight floral note on the very back which is the slightly herbal additive the label promised, but it doesn't give it much of a kick, nor does it flush out what is otherwise an overly sweet palate almost reminiscent of cough medicine.

Marks of course, for ingenuity, but the palate is simple, slightly cloying and the finish leave an over-linger of a syrupy sweetness. Mouthfeel is a bit sticky, but the tingle goes appropriately with the tang of the flavour. This is an interesting beer but it doesn't live up to the shining standard of its cousin, the Black Wattle, mainly because the latter has a far better constructed and more complex palate.

This here is a gimmicky flavour - it needs a bit of work on letting the Australian bush spicing flavour, but not overpower, the beery goodness.

Pours a hazy golden with a ridiculously thick white frothy head. The head was not impressive, just too thick. Some lacing.

The smell is strong of yeast, coriander & artificial lemon. The taste is mainly yeast & lemon with a little coriander, cloves & wheat. The yeast flavor reminded me of a lager. Mouthfeel is crisp, carbonated.

Drinkability is average; it would be better without the artificial lemon.

Pours slightly cloudy, very pale gold with a very small, weak head that is gone pretty quick. Very active carbonation. Smells quite inticing with sherbety lemon notes mixing with some typical witbeer citrus. After that bouquet, the taste was a little lacklustre. A lemony punch that drops away a little too quick. Does hold up as a fairly good wit. Decent length with no apparent bitterness. A good beer worth trying but not a classic as such.

Pours pale golden with a massive towering soap sud-like head. Good persistence.
Aroma is white wine, lemon sherbet, coriander and the ever-present perfumy Lemon Myrtle. Further inspection reveals loads of lemon zest, and some light malt (perhaps wheat, not even sure if this is a real wit, label only says "contains malted barley.). Reminiscent of lemon-scented dish-washing liquid.
Definate wheat flavour, very light otherwise. Short-lived finish is made of lemony tangyness and a practically invisible bitterness. Very weak tasting after a couple of sips, but still, quite refreshing.
Too much carbonation.

This beer poured WAY too much head. Pours a slightly cloudy amber color.

Smell is of mild spice with a little orange peel and lemon citrus. Not a lot of hints of cloveyness or anything. Yeast byproducts seem underwhelming.

Taste has hints of fusel alcohols, which is odd at 4.5% abv. Very dry on the palate, and the fusel alcohols overtake the yeast byproducts. There is a slight hint of cloveyness and bitter orange peel, but it's a stretch to find.

Mouthfeel is a little bit too carbonated, but maintains a crispness and fullness.

This beer is VERY middle of the road. Try it if it's in the mixed six section. Otherwise, pass on it.

Appearance - 3.0
The head fizzed with an almost soda like ferocity, and reduced to a paper thin layer. Beneath this the beer appears to be typical witbier, hazy, orange-yellow in colour.

Smell - 3.5
Immediately the native ingredient becomes apparent. The typical spicy, fruity smells that come from malted wheat are in the background, hiding behind a strong whiff of lemon rind.

Taste - 4.0
Despite being stronger in flavour, the beer is still refreshing, as a wit should be. Tastes of lemon rind, ripe citrus fruits, finishes tart and vaguely spicy.

Mouthfeel - 3.5
Perhaps not as smooth as the best of witbiers, carbonation is reasonable lively.

Drinkability - 4.0
Refreshing and easy to drink, but I wouldn't want to session with this, it has too much strength of flavour for that.

OVERALL - 3.65
Another very interesting Australian twist on a traditional style. Hats off to Baron's for being adventurous, they have created yet another, drinkable, memorable beer.

At first I didn't like the aroma it was a lot like a lemon cough drop. After it has a chance to warm a little the malt comes through as well as some spices. The appearance is hazy gold with a large head that falls pretty fast. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin but right for the style. The finish is a little strange. Overall it's not great but its got plenty of lemon and very refreshing and easy to drink.

This is reviewed subjectively as I confess to not having Witbeir parameters as part of my beer education.
The bottle sediment ensures a cloudy glass of beer with a head that wonted to be somewhere lese.
The lemon of course is obvious on nose and taste buds and the myrtle adds a distinctive flavour that borders on herby/spicy but mellow and woody. It nips the lemoness just when it needs to.
This is an ideal beer for a hot hot day and certainly refreshes the palate.
Not an everyday , all day sort of thing but has a little place in the world of beer consumption

Appearance - Extremely huge head, so much so that it's very difficult to pour correctly. I have to wait a while for it to die down. The color is cloudy yellow.

Smell - A grassy lemon smell dominates, some coriander. A few wheat notes.

Taste - Pretty similar to the smell, except with the added sharpness of the carbonation.

Mouthfeel - Crisp, highly carbonated.

Drinkability - One goes down well, though I'm ready to move on by the time I'm done.

Notes - As a unique beer, I'm glad I tried it. However, its overcarbonation gets to me, and I don't think I'll buy it again.
