I SHOP HERE FOR ALL OF MY HOMEBREW SUPPLIES AND I MUST SAY THEY ARE THE BEST IN SACRAMENTO. THEY HAVE GREAT SERVICE, FRESH INGREDINTS, AND A LARGE SELLECTION OF PRODUCTS. IF YOU ARE NEW TO BREWING OR LOOKING TO IMPROVE YOUR KNOWLAGE THEY HAVE CLASSES AND PUBLIC BREW SESSIONS TO HELP PEOPLE LEARN.

THESE GUYS ALWAYS SEEM TO HAVE EVERYTHING I NEED WHEN I NEED IT. LAST WEEK I WAS IN FOR A LONG LIST OF INGREDIENCE AND THEY HAD VERY THING IN STOCK AND EVERYTHING I PURCHACED WAS FRESH, THE YEAST WAS ONLY A WEEK OLD, THE OTHER HOME BREW SHOP I HAVE BEEN TO NEVER HAS STUFF THAT FRESH. I WILL NEVER SHOP ANY WHERE ELSE.

While I may still be relatively new to the home brew scene, I have found the Folsom Brewmeister to be a great source for my home brewing needs. Not only are they close enough to my house for an emergency yeast or hop run but they have been reliably informative and helpful smoothing out the learning curve for a new brewer.

At first I was a bit unsure of the complete brewing process and so I enrolled in an intro brewing class they offered. Besides clearing up many questions I had, the class gave me a chance to really meet with fellow brewers and appreciate the knowledge that the staff at The Folsom Brewmeister were eager to share. Since then I have made several batches of beer (each one better than the last), moved to an all grain system and found a great local homebrew shop that has yet to let me down no matter what kind of questions or recipes I throw at them.

Sum it up.... Love the knowledge/helpfulness, convenience and malt/hop/yeast selection.

I started brewing a few years ago (back when they were in Old Folsom) and have had nothing but great experiences at the Brewmeister! Excellent selection of malts and hops along with plenty of (fresh) yeast. Honestly though, the best part of the Brewmeister is the advice that is always freely available, no matter if you are just starting out or an advanced brewer. They helped me through my first (bad) batch and still give advice and suggestions on recipes or whatever brewing gizmo I want to put together. Great store and great employees.‎

The Brewmeister is the ONLY place for your homebrew needs!!! I have been a customer for almost 2 years now. Eric and his staff have been there for me every step, from extract brewing all the way to some killer "all grain" brewing!!! Everything I needed along the way from equipment and classes to constant advice these guys were there for me. Unlike other homebrew shops, you will always feel at home at the Brewmeister!! There is never an up-sell, they never sell you on hype or myths, only great customer support to help you get the most from this awesome hobby, mainly great beer (or wine)!!

I've been going to the Folsom Brewmeister since it first opened in 1991. Currently there are only two homebrew outlets in the Sacramento area and the Folsom Brewmeister is by far the superior store.

Being an extract brewer, many of my recipes call for varying amounts of extract and I'm able to get the "exact" amount I need at the Brewmeister. At the other store, they only sell pre-packaged packets of extract and refused to sell me what I needed since they said the extract would become contaminated if put into a plastic bucket. Really?? This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in 19 years of brewing.

The Brewmeister's selection of grains, hops and yeasts are very good and when needed, they've special ordered yeasts for me that weren't carried in their normal inventory. The service I've received at the Brewmeister has always been exceptional which is a far cry from what I've experienced at the other place. If you're a beginner or an experienced brewer, the Folsom Brewmeister is there to serve all of your brewing needs!

The staff at this homebrew shop is awesome. I have never a bad experience with them, Even when the store is packed (i.e. more then 2 people for a home brew shop). Quite knowlegable when asked difficult specific questions.

The selection is also pretty good, hops and malt variety is quite impressive for a home brew shop. Only down side is the bulk 2 row is a generic brand and over priced. I wished they had a choice for a premium base malt at the same price, as I can order that online at the same price. In general everything on the shelf is more expensive then online. So bulk orders online are more economical even with shipping costs.

In short if I need a few things quickly I don't mind going there. Its just a turn off because of the costs.

Now known as The Folsom Brewmeister. This is a review of their mail order service.

A recent story in Brew Your Own talked about this place's custom smoked 2-row malt: your choice of Cherry, Alder or Maple smoked malt. When it came time for me to do a smoked beer to satisify my cravings I thought back the this place a gave them an order over the web.

So off I went and thinking of my experience with other smoked malts, I order a pound of each. (A pound is generally sufficent to give a subtle smokey character) Within an hour of placing my order, I received a phone call from the owner talking about my order and wokring out what I was trying to do before he made recommendations to help me use their malt to the full potential. Very very appreciated.

Later after a screwup on my part with the Fedex delivery, they were also kind enough to call Fedex for me and get the package diverted. Great service!

I'm spoiled by my local shop, but this place seems to be all right, just not as well stocked as I'm used to.

Still, overall I give these guys a thumbs up, if for no other reason than their willingness to reach out and help someone do what's best for them.

I go up to the Sacramento area every other month or so to visit a lot of friends and family I have up there. Since I don't have a homebrew store within 60 miles of where I live, I always stop and pick up a couple batches to keep myself busy.

Beck's is definitely one of my favorite homebrew shops. The guys there are great. Super friendly, always willing to lend a helping hand or make a great suggestion and not condescending like some other places. On top of that their recipes are incredible (have to try their IPA). Have one of their Cherry Wood Smoked Hefeweizen's in the fermenter right now, can't wait.

They have a good selection of everything you need, including lots of strands of liquid yeast and fresh leaf hops. For being a relatively new shop (<1 year old) their doing pretty good. I made the mistake of going into the Original Homebrew Outlet in Sacramento once when Beck's was closed for a Christmas break and the horrible, rude service there made me love Beck's all the more. If you are looking into buying some goodies in the Sac area, it's worth it to drive the extra 20-30 miles and go to Beck's. Drop them an email before you go with your list and they'll have it there waiting for you.
