Presentation: 22 oz bomber with no freshness date, full list of ingredients and specs on the bottle.

Appearance: Very creamy looking light tan lace, very dark mahogany with reddish hues. Quite a treat to look at.

Smell: So damn malty in the nose with obvious nutty and hazelnut aromas. Toasted and roasted malts in the nose with a light and ripe dark fruitiness.

Taste: Soft mix of toasted and roasted malts up front with a big handful of sweetness. Flexed medium body with a rolling smooth carbonation. Quick flash of spicy hop throws in its bitterness to keep the brew in balance. Roasted malts seem to prevail over the toasted, but not by much. Hints of chocolate and charred wood follow. Suggestions of black currants and prune fruitiness. Mild nuttiness from the hazelnut extract as well as the malts.

Notes: A full flavoured brown ale with the nice addition of hazelnut extract. This is my kind of dessert beer, give me a square of tiramisu or molten chocolate cake and I’d be in beer heaven.

Poured room temperature (77°F)from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
LOOK: Pours with a finger's worth of a khaki foam head that subsides into a line within 30 seconds. Dark brown in color with a gorgeous ruby tint. Bubbles are subtle as they rise.
SMELL: Mild aromas of hazelnut combine with slightly less mild aromas of toffee, chocolate, and caramel along with a hints of coffee (roasted malts), spicy hops, and floral hops.
TASTE: Upon first sip, strong flavors of hazelnut are met with mild flavors of spicy hops. Mild choclate flavors and subtle floral hop flavors enter the palate right after. As all flavors equally and gradually fade from the aftertaste, my tongue is left searching for the coffee, toffee, and caramel flavors that my nose had smelled. That was quite disappointing.
FEEL: This is rather light-bodied (that sucks) with almost no carbonation (that doesn't suck). This goes down incredibly smooth and has the most thirst-quenching finish I have ever had in a beer.
NOTE: I chose to drink this at room temperature because at room temperature, whether American or English, Brown Ales taste better to me. I'll try it cold next time and see if those missing flavors pop up.

From bottle, Pours a light brown with a nice tan head. Hazelnut and caramel malt on the nose. An excellent beer. Roasted hazelnut does not take away from the damn fine brown it’s built on.

Poured from a bottle into pint glass in July 2015.

Appearance: Dark amber with tan head. Head is very thick and sticks to the glass.

Smell: Sweet with a little hopiness mixed in. Nice aroma of roasted malts.

Taste: Nice mix of flavors such as malt, nuts, and sweetness from honey or molasses. There is a little hops , and some roasted coffee flavors for a contrast.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied.

Nice Brown Ale. It had nice variety of flavors. Definitely one of the best brown ales I have tried.

This beer is just so rich and nutty. I only have 1-2 bottles at a time as it's a special flavor that needs to be savored when your taste buds are ready for action. And there's coffee too. It's just an excellent beer. You could pop this one open at breakfast and drink with your pancakes. Seriously.

Pours a deep brown color with ruby accents. Looks like a good brown ale. Nice cream colored head dissapates rather quickly. Roasted nuts dominate the aroma with just a hint of hops. The taste leans toward the sweet side. Moderate carbonation.

This to me is a desert beer. Tastes like ameretto to me. By the end of the glass it's almost barleywinesqe in it's warming affect. If you like things a little sweet, give this beer a shot.

Poured a very light brown, even close to an amber color, with a big, tan-colored, fluffy head that took its sweet time bubbling down, plus thick waves of carbonation running up the side of the beer. Looked tasty, smelled tasty too. There was obviously the hazelnuts, but there was also some other roasted dark malts in there, maybe some chocolate or coffee, plus a soft touch of sweetness. The taste was excellent: as you would expect, there was plenty of nutty taste, but the beer was overall very well balanced. I could pull out dark, roasted malts in addition to the lighter nut flavor, plus toffee sweetness, and a splash of bitter hops. The beer was creamy and smooth. I drank a large bottle and still wanted more. All around a solid beer that I would recommend as a notch above most other brown ales out there.

Dark amber and brown. Persistent tan head. Leaves gobs of sticky lacing down the glass. I wouldn't ask more from any brown ale. Perfect.

The aroma is relatively sweet: brown sugar, caramel, perhaps some chocolate, balanced by a nutty and earthy element from the hazelnuts. What's here is nice, though not one of the more aromatic browns.

A delicious and incredibly drinkable brown ale. There's far more chocolate in the flavor than I would have expected from the aroma. Along with the chocolate is some mild bitterness, some sweet caramel malt and a distinct earthiness. It all comes together extraordinarily well. Very good.

Medium yet full mouthfeel, which is a very nice surprise, as I've come to find that brown ales, even particularly good ones, seem to be very thin in mouthfeel.

A tremendously delicious brown ale--perhaps my favorite within the style. A lot of varying, relatively complex flavors, come together for an extraordinarily drinkable and highly delicious beer. I can't help but gulp this.

My homie says it's his favorite, I had to try.

App - pretty good loking dark color on this pour with a nice soft foamy head...Smell is of hazelnut for sure, almost scary how real/noticeable it is..Almost feel like the taste will be overwhelming..
Taste is good, lots of hazelnut but not overwhelming....funny/hard-to-explain taste here...I just thought hazelnut was one of the flavors that you couldn't do much to mask if it was too much, this brew is balanced very nicely.

No wonder it's my friends favorite, mouthfeel is very nice, not too thin or carbonated, not thick like a stout, the boundaries are very well defined around this one..

Overall, enjoyed it, grab one, amkes you feel fine.

Cheers!

A: poured a dark brown with maroon highlights with a half finger of head that left nice rings of sticky lacing down the glass after every sip.

S: there was definitely a nice creamy vanilla hazenut dominate aroma with hints of chocolate and oatmeal. It had a little brown sugar and maple syrup as well with faint sweet malt notes.

T: the. Vanilla and hazelnut also dominated the taste that also had maple syrup, brown sugar, and chocolate accents; very tasty brown ale.

M: the brew was light to medium body with a fair amount of carbonation that had a sweet and creamy finish.

D: very drinakble beer evn though it was a little on the sweet side but went really well pair with some crumb cake.

A- Nice head, that dissipates after a moment, but a very nice pour. I didn't have much lacing, but otherwise, the beer is really nice to look at.

S- Nutty, coffee kind of smell. Smells like toasted malts, and reminds me of sitting by a warm fire.

T- Sweet, but not too much so, smooth, so smooth... mellow taste that manages to incorporate a little bit of slight hops, and give it a slight kick. Really complex and beautiful taste.

F- So smooth. Perfect carbonation. This beer is so smooth I could picture having one, and wondering where it went.

O- Love it. I think it's seriously a great beer.

Medium-dark brown, almost copper in the light, clear with a chunky haze. Moderately retaining, uniform, tan, foamy and creamy head. Definitely smell the hazelnut. Light tart and toasty notes. And that’s about it. It is to the point that it does not smell very much like beer at all. Strong and, despite name, unexpected, yet not unpleasant. taste is far out there, as with the smell I was expecting and hoping the hazelnut would be more subdued. The nature of hazelnut almost makes it seem more boozy than it is. Still, you get caramel, faintly tart, mildly nutty, light tobacco, earthy notes shining through. Sweet, fairly tart, nutty, not very roasty or bitter. Medium-bodied, somewhat slick and sticky, with fine, gentle, nearly flat carbonation. Certainly not a nasty beer, but a stylistic nonconformist.

US Trip Aug-Dec 04

Poured, you guessed it, a dark brown (a nut brown if you will) with only a small head, but some good lacing.

Fantastic blend of aromas make this probably the best nut brown i've had. Nuts, dark malts, roasted malts and some spiciness all weld together in harmony to create a lovely smelling beer.

Good sweet malt flavours and only a little touch of hops help make this a creamy joy to drink. Incredibly drinkable, you cant have just one!

Another screamer from Rogue!

Poured a hazy, oily brown into a pint glass. Small, thick head that sticks around for the entire time!

Milk chocolate, peanut butter, caramel, and malty bread aroma -- sounds like a candy bar!

Caramel malt flavour, with roastd wood, marshmallow, nuts (but not really hazelnut). Angel food cake with vanilla icing. A dessert beer?

Bit of a weak finish with a slightly watery mouthfeel and dull aftertaste.
