Served in the 22 oz. bomber into a pint glass. The color was golden, with a big foamy head. The smell was light citrusy hops, with just a bit of wheat. The taste was fairly bitter, with a slight citrus and just a bit of the wheat tanginess, and a bit of residue in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel was average. As for drinkability, could have a few of these.

I definitely enjoyed this one. I know there wasn't much wheat malt in it, but the slight bit added a unique taste to a pale ale/IPA. Quite good, and I'd enjoy having one again.

Appearance – This IPA is light orange in color and hazy with a modest head and rather wimpy looking.

Smell – There’s a nice, complex hop profile to the nose. The floral notes especially came out nicely. The malt base is heavy on the sugar.

Taste – The tangy citrus notes are about all I got from the hoppy nose. This one is light in the pants for a Rogue IPA. The malt base just wasn’t there. It came out sugary-sweet with no backbone.

Mouthfeel – It’s not quite medium-bodied and is kind of fizzy.

Drinkability – I thought this was off-style and out of character for this brewery. It wasn’t a bad IPA just not up to par.

Color's a cloudy orange, head is fresh, crystalline, white as driven snow, delicate and lacey...Aroma: uplifting and lively, airy and angelic, nice hoppiness, none I can call out, but noble, nonetheless, I put forth.
Taste: brisk hops blast on the palate, replete with lush fruits, peach and apricot, mango, green apple, and more, wonderful flavor, that's fruity, but never too sweet, quickly drying in the mouth. Medium bodied, tastily textured, long, tingly, continually fruity, peachy finish.
A very good beer...crystal, cascade, & centennial, yumalicious!
Here's to that truck that inspired this very tasty brew, and cheers out to weefisheads, the provider, and also, RedDiamond, the bearer of this bottle!

Pours a clear, rich yellow topped with a cushiony white head. Looks a lot like a pilsner or a golden ale. Smell has some tangy, toffeeish malt up front, backed by a bitter hoppiness (some skunk smell too). Taste features a light bready maltiness at first, followed by some sweetness. A blast of grapefruit hops hits at the back of the palate and is quite refreshing. Not too bitter, but great grapefruit hop taste. Reminds me of New Belgium's Loft ale. Finish is bitter with sourish grapefruit and lean bread malts lingering. Crisp, refreshing pale ale (I don't know about IPA...) that would be great in the summer heat. Malt is a little lean, but the grapefruit juiciness is good enough to make me forget it.

Served on tap at Kclinger's Publik House

Appearance - Poured mostly yellow with some white head. Left some lacing in the mug. Not bad, but looks a bit thin for the style of IPA I am used to.

Smell - Very hoppy and floral with some faint fruitiness mixed within. Nothing all that complicated in this one.

Taste - A bit bland. The hops were there, but not really much kick to this one. I think the I2PA really spoiled me and I expected more. Not that it is offensive tasting, but nothing really stands out except a hoppy tone. Kind of like a hoppy pils almost.

Mouthfeel - Average. A bit carbonated and tingy, but not horrible.

Drinkability - I would have one and move on. This is worth a try, especially for those trying to ween into hoppy beers, but those seasoned IPA drinkers will be left out in the cold with this one. Go for the I2PA instead.

While visiting SF, I stopped by Rogues watering house on Union Street and had afew brews. The 4X4 was one on them. It poured a light golden yellow with little foam and some lace. The smell of hop's were evedent in the aroma. The taste was nothing to write home about. Just a sort of flat hoppy flavor with a mild bitterness on the finish. Dissapointed with this Anv. brew!

I got my standard PBR glassful of this new one from Rogue. It was pretty good. I liked it. A nice golden colour with a fluffy white head on top. It smelled hoppy to me, but not extreme. It was nice. Taste was similar to the aroma, but less hoppy even. I quite liked the mild yet full flavour, the malts peeked through and masked the hops somewhat so there was an almost balance happening. Mouthfeel was very nice, it was smooth and soft and so this beer really went down well. I would like to have this one again if I get the chance... but I don't think I will. Darn.

The 5th, and latest brew, in the Rogue 15th anniversary set of beers. This one is an APA (American Pale Ale). It pours out a light golden colour with a lovely white head of foam. The aromas are fresh bread, biscuits, and lightly floral american hops. The taste is less hoppy than the aroma, and the bready malts really take center stage in this brew. The mouthfeel is great, and reminiscent of fresh British cask ale, and the drinkability is good as well. Another good one from Rogue!

We took my in-laws to Rogue for dinner tonight, and I had to try #5 after hearing it was an IPA. The pint arrived quickly, capped in a soft white foam. The body was a dullish yellow with a slight amber hue.

The aroma gave no indication of being an IPA, most of the aroma seemed to be from the malt constituents. The taste confirmed this; a robust mix of malts brought a very british bitter profile. The hops were quite mellow and for a moment I thought maybe I'd been served an Amber ale. I cannot comment on the hops as they didn't create any impression on me. However, the beer had a great presence in the mouth and was a wonderful appetizer. The more I drank, the better it got.

Rogue's 5th beer in the 15th anniversary series was served from a 22 oz. bomber. In the pint glass, 4X4 was clear and golden, topped by a nice sticky white head that left wonderful lacing. The nose was of a typical high quality IPA, with a full, enticing slightly citric hop profile and a tingly malt sensation. The taste was crisp, firm, and dry, with citrus notes (grapefruit) and a clean, satisfying IPA-style bitter finish. The body was exceptionally full and muscular, and increased the overall enjoyment significantly. 4X4 was an above average standard IPA that was quite enjoyable.
