Appearance – This poured a IPA beautiful dingy orange in color with some flotsam and jetsam and a mild but firm off-white head, exactly how an IPA should be.

Smell – The big citrus in these locally-grown hops come out huge at the nose. This ale has that classic farm-fresh smell. It is raw, not harsh but big, and balanced with orange peel, grass, and rich sweet malt.

Taste – This is huge on the taste. It has all the malt and power of a double IPA without the alcohol content. The balancing malt sweetness accomplishes quite the feat as these hops are monstrous on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – This is a solid medium-bodied if not bigger with good drying at the finish.

Drinkability – This came in a can but you’ll want to pour it in a glass to catch the nose. It is extremely smooth but too bitter for most. Rogue quality took a nose dive about 20 years ago but they are back! This is an excellent PacNW IPA.

12 oz can, dated 3/1/18. Pours slightly hazy copper gold with a small creamy off white head that goes to a thin film and laces the glass some.

The aroma is sweet funky fruit and some spicy hops.

The flavor is sweet funky fruit (caramel green apples) and minty ashy hops that finish pretty harsh. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, I didn't really care for it.

12 oz can

Pours a nice warm shade of darker orangy amber, loose khaki cap, and leaves some nice looking fine and delicate sheets of lacing.

Resiny and herbal hop nose

Enjoyable and sturdy IPA, more resiny hops, with some notes of oranges....moderate and pleasing bitterness on the back end...well done

12 oz can with an 3 April 2017 canning date stamp on the bottom.
Pours hazy, amber in color, with a creamy bone-colored head that leaves partial sheets of lacing on the glass and has decent retention.
The aroma is evident in the pour: citrusy and grassy hops with faint herbal and smoke notes. The flavor follows but is a bit more dank. Moderate bitterness.

Feel: medium body and lively medium carbonation.

22oz bottle - I see now the connection between the number of hops, ABV, and the picture on the label. Neat, I guess!

This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium golden amber colour, with a handful of puffy, rocky, and somewhat creamy ecru head, which leaves some layered and sudsy continental drift lace around the glass as it slowly ebbs away.

It smells of fairly dank pine resin, a mixed forest floor detritus green bitterness, edgy orange and white grapefruit rind, loitering yeast, plain bready caramel malt, a twinge of hard water flintiness, and more earthy, musty, and dead floral hoppiness. The taste is bready and doughy caramel malt, leafy and piney wet garden paths, lemon, lime, and Texas red grapefruit peel, Rockets candy, a suggestion of phenolic warming alcohol, and more earthy, musty, and floral hop bitters.

The bubbles are decently rounded in their supportive and sort of challenging frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally handicapped in its attempt at smoothness by the machinations of that sextet of ale (I mean hops - stupid sexy Simpsons!). It finishes off-dry, the malt and inherent fruitiness of the homegrown hops doing well to keep the heretofore antsy acerbic and alcoholic astringencies duly in check.

Overall, a generally pleasant and more than adequately bitter West Coast Yankee IPA, and even if the specified hops are unfamiliar, they play out like the descendants of those we do know. Easy to drink for any sort of avowed hop-head, and a nice reminder of why Rogue still matters - discuss!

No bottling date found

Appearance - Pours slightly hazy and golden orange in color with an off-white, two-finger width head. Good retention, then dissipates to a thin, broken layer of suds with a fair ring around the edge of the glass.

Smell - Candied citrus, light spice and pine, a hint of caramel.

Taste - Hmm, interesting. Citrus hits first, but then woodiness comes through with a bit of herbal character. Lesser pine dank, and some peppery spice. Malts come through with a hint of caramel and grain. Finish is predominantly woody bitterness with just a hint of citrus.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Slick texture that turns a bit dry and chewy in the finish.

Overall - Good, unique IPA but may throw some for a loop. True to many of Rogue's hoppy beers in its woody character.

Did this one bomber style. Nice color, smooth taste, great hops. Good job to all at Rogue for this nicely rounded IPA. Weisenbeer certifed approval.

Good hop flavour, almost like a double ipa. Lovely made ipa, very organic hop flavour and a good melange. Crushable. On tap at Griffon Gastropub, Clarence.

Pours an effervescent amber with 2 fingers of cream colored head. Hazes up a little, above average lacing & head retention

S: Super catty, some breadyness, pine & lemongraas

T: Follows the nose, some pine & dryness as well up front, a little cakeyness too. Piney & wood hops dominate as this warms, a little catttyness too. Finishes piney, a little weedy, plus a little grapefruit

MF: Medium body, assertive carbonation, good balance

A nice IPA that is well worth a try, I guess I will try a few more from this series, the price is alright, drinks pretty easy
