eyes...
clean amber hue with bubbles workin' it to create a nice finger of white cap foam
simple and well executed

nose...
Malty, definitely some dark rye-p fruits, also a sort of dryness (like an old house) - in a good way

taste etc.
light refreshing ale, crisp carbonation with the right kick, the flavor is just like the smell, malt forward with a nice complement of hops, sometimes rye ipa can be a bit too "spicy" but this is balanced where you know you are in rye land but are not being harassed by the locals

verdict?
pretty straight forward, every aspect is solid, a really well rounded flavor and beer over all

I love Rye beers..Pretty, deep amber with a rocky, dense tan head that never went away.

Rye malt and ripe fruit aroma. Of course the taste is the same with a nice resiny midrange and finish.

Semi full mouthfeel with sublime carbonation. Very enjoyable example of this style!

Billowy off white head floating over mostly opaque beautifully brown body.

Flavors are over ripe fruits and a lot of black pepper and alcohol and lingering pine. Very smooth.

Really good. Will have again.

22 oz. Bomber
ABV: 7.5%

Pours a pretty nice clean/clear dark golden amberish color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with some really nice rye notes, citrus, some pine. The taste is hoppy, some malts, very nice touch of rye, citrus, slight pine. Medium body, ABV hidden pretty well, nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this one surprised me. Been awhile since I've had Rogue brew. Pretty tasty.

L - Opaque deep amber with a medium tan head that sticks around and leaves behind some lacing.
S - Bread/yeast and sweet malt with some piney hops and caramel notes
T - A ton of bready malt up front followed by a nice amount of hop bitterness. With that said, the sweet bready malt cuts through the bitterness very well. Notes of caramel, biscuit, and a general earthiness can be noted throughout as well.
F - Medium body with a medium about of carbonation. Nothing too special going on in the feel department.
O - This is IPA is really well done. It provides a great complex flavor full of bready malt and hops with nice complements of caramel, biscuit, and earth. I definitely get Arrogant Bastard vibes from this one and that's not a bad thing at all.

Pours a rich deep amber with a thinner quick to fade lighter tan colored head atop, great color but the head was gone pretty quickly.Citric hops and a big shot of spicy rye in the nose, some sweetish biscuit dough as well.Like the aromas there is a big spicy rye presence with citric and earthy hops intertwined,a doughy sweet edge underneath.I'am a big rye fan and this comes packed with rye flavor, maybe too much? For some maybe....for me not too much.

Rye. 22 oz. bottle. In. Split with my wife. Excited.

The pour is murky orange, & lively. Smells just like it ought - piney hops, rye, caramel & pumpernickel. Not sure where that came from. Or what it actually smells like.

Promise Gone Aw-Rye is like a wall of rye. A wall! To keep the rye in! Big rye bite twines up with a piney, bitter hoppiness, spice, leaves, sixteen-grain bread, & the aforementioned pumpernickel. Dry.

Loaded to the gills with rye, I’d love to see this aged in rye whiskey barrels, & drink it while getting a rye enema. Excellent beer.

Pours a hazy garnet color with a tight, off-white head that leaves little bits of lacing.

Smells of toasted malt, rye, and some bright hops.

Tastes of the rye and toasted malts coupled with the bright hops. Malts lead off with notes of caramel and toasted bread leading to spicy rye. This gives way to grapefruit and pine hops along with a moderate amount of bitterness. Finishes with some lingering rye and pine.

Mouthfeel is medium with a crisp amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a pretty well done rye beer. I would like less hops overall though.

The beer comes in a medium to deep amber color, a bit of off white head.

The aroma tons of spicy rye, grainy bread notes, earthy spice.

The flavor hits of an underlying citrus, a bit of caramel sweetness, spicy rye, earthiness, grass, medium bitterness, pine. A wonderfully balanced spicy Red IPA. Fantastic choice for food pairings based on its balanced and its parts throughout.

22oz bottle - now called 'Promise Gone Aw-Rye IPA', and coming in at 7.5% ABV. Swell of the employees sharing their faves with the rest of us, eh?

This beer pours a clear, bright medium red-brick amber colour, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and chunky beige head, which leaves some random coral reef atoll lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of bready caramel malt, some edgy rye graininess, a twinge of sour yeast, muddled dark orchard fruity notes, and a decent earthy, leafy, and piney green hop bitterness. The taste is gritty and grainy pale and caramel malt, a still heady rye bread astringency, some waning yeastiness, a growing bruised stone fruit character, muffled citrus rind, and more acrid leafy, piney, and somewhat perfumed floral hoppiness.

The bubbles are fairly straightforward in their hard-working frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, as the yeast, rye, and hops can't help but snap a few rose stems here and there. It finishes off-dry, the overall malt and fruity hop contingent not to be denied.

Overall, this is indeed one of the better rye IPAs that I have yet encountered - the rye malt blends well with its cohorts, and the hops run the rest of the show. Easy to drink, nice and bitter, and a basic pleasure to see an offering from this brewery that is essentially worth the price-tag.

Draft at PreFunk. Dark amber pour with soft, sticky head. Hoppy aroma also features caramel malts and dome rye sourness. Rye kicks up a bit in the taste, with the hops providing some bite at the finish.
