L-Pours a dark brown color with a small frothy head that bubbles and hugs the side of the glass. Interesting appearance.
S-The smell is very mellow, yet with this mellow aroma I get quite a bit of notes of coffee. After the first initial draws I get a faint aroma of banana as well.
T-I taste bitterness from the roasted hops and it follows greatly with the slight flavor of coffee. The flavor really follows the nose. As the beer warms the flavor gets more complex.
F-Medium bodied. Frothy and full in the beginning. Hearty feel.
O-Everything about this porter is very good and I enjoyed drinking it! It is extremely complex and may be one of the most solid porters I've ever tried. Delicious coffee flavor mixed with unique bitterness makes this porter stand out. You will like it for sure.

On tap. Not cask but a fresh keg. The head dissipated almost instantly. Mild and smooth with a tasty burnt undercoat, set askew by typical West Coast hop bite. Ends up tangy for a porter, with a thin mouthfeel. I found it sharp but definitely not fizzy. This is pretty good, but just shy of greatness in my book. Not as mocha-ey as I was expecting.

This beer was tasted in a Pint Glass from a Bottle.

This beer pours a dark almost opaque color wiht amber trim. The Head is tan and laces nicely. There is a sweet smell with undertones of guess what... chocolate and coffee. It tastes similar to its smell. Eating Chocolate helps bring out the coffee flavor . Good bitterness and very enjoyable. There is a good thickness adn good carbonation. This is overall a very enjoyable beer that I could drink a lot of.

A - This beer poured a dark brown color which produced a nicely sized, fluffy, light brown head which had good retention and a nice bit of lacing

S - The aromas of this beer had some of the chocolate and coffee tones you would expect from a Porter, but the hops are a little too much in this one

T - The taste of this beer was actually its strong point, a start of toasted malts is were this beer begins, anda bitter chocolate taste soon develops into a sweet one, the hops really do not show up

M - The mouthfeel of this beer had a medium body to with a moderate amount of carbonation

D - This beer gets good marks because I can get a 6-pack of it, but it is still a little high and the price a flavor of the Sierra Nevada Porter beat this one out

Keg at The Barley Mow, Bristol - Pours jet black with a medium tanned head. Medium carbonation. Nice lacing. Aroma - roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee. Taste - roasted coffee at the front with dark chocolate notes leading to a nice long bitter finish. Solid coffee based porter.

Very dark, with a little yeast chunkiness. Nice multi-size-bubbled head, 1/4 of an inch of persistent dark foam. A sweetened coffee aroma -- no surprise there. Nice multi-dimensional taste, a warble between the java flavor and alternate notes of caramel and toffee. Very nice (a little overdone) hop acidity also adds to the complexity and balances impressively. Quite a handful in the mouth despite not very full body. Very good Porter to my tongue.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a snifter.

This beer is perfectly black, totally opaque, and sports a 1 finger tan head that falls slowly, but never fully disappears.

The nose is all coffee and roasted malts, a very fitting smell for this beer.

The flavor is pure bitter coffee with a smattering of bitter unsweetened chocolate, very dry and bitter through and through.

The mouthfeel is a bit too "fluffy" for me, not as smooth or creamy as a stout, and the bitter taste and aftertaste hurts the drinkability.

Overall, a decent beer, but I wouldn't go crazy over it. I've bought it several times, each time hoping that it will live up to its promise, but so far, it hasn't.

Pours a dark brown, with one finger of head into a pint glass.

Smells of mostly chocolate malts.

The taste is of roasted chocolate malt, with just the slightest hop presence. It's sweet, but not overwhelmingly so.

There is a medium bodied mouth feel, which is neither thick nor thin. Drinkability is good, I could easily drink a few of these at once.

I really enjoy this beer. It's a fine alternative to a heavier stout, and a good example of a delicious porter. It also manages to pack a lot of taste into a low abv.

12 oz. bottle at Winking Lizard last night. Review from notes. Poured by me into a clean, clear pint glass.

A Dark Dark body with medium brown head. 4.0

S Nice strong porter with a coffee and chocolate background. Dark roasted sweet malt as well. Exactly as advertised and I appreciate that. 4.0

T Smell carries right over into the taste. Nice dark roasted malt, coffee and chocolate notes with a nice sweetness that is nicely balanced by other tastes. 4.0

M A nice smoothness greets the taster while enjoying all of the tastes described above. This is a big beer overall though. 4.0

D One and done for me but I enjoyed every drop. 3.5

Notes: Nice, enjoyable beer that delivers exactly what is suggested by the name, style.

Poured from 12oz bottle.

A- Pours a deep darker brown almost black in color. One finger beige head shows medium retention that caps the beer. Light streaky lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- Lots of roasted malts in the front of this beer. Some hints of coffee and light vanilla notes come and go as well. The ending has some hints of bitter hops to it as well.

T- Roasted and coffee like malts in the front. A hint of vanilla gives off a light creamy feel in the front. The middle of this beer has most of the roasted malts fade into some caramel backbone middle. The ending of this has a sharp bitter hop bite with a light spicing to it it seems.

M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Roasted malts with a hint of roasted coffee left on the palate. Aftertaste is coffee and warming alcohol. Medium drying on the palate from alcohol. Flavors were a little muted but blended well to give a good overall flavor. Clean tasting with no off flavors.

D- This beer is there but it's not. The flavor was muted a bit and could have been more. The ABV is light enough to make this a easy sixer although I would want more flavor from my beer.
