Look: Dark brown with little carbonation and a slight yellowish head.

Smell: Boozy, hops, slight coffee.

Taste: Hop forward, boozy.

Feel: Decent mouthfeel.

Overall: Was expecting to be better. I love their Hazelnut Brown Nectar, but this doesn't do it for me as far as porters go. There are better ones out there. 6/10.

A beautifully dark porter, but with a short-lived head and no lacing to speak of. The strong scent of chocolate is certainly distinct that comes with a light almost distance smell of porter. The mouthfeel was very up and down for me - in the end I just couldn't over look the carbonation and the tacky, distracting after taste. The taste was very good though, a solid porter with a slightly sweet, slightly tart chocolaty taste - distinctive and unique. Overall, though not as strongly flavored with chocolate as other's of its kind, it's definitely a great porter and I will look for more during the impending holidays.

Pours a dark brown, nearly black and with mahogany tones. Modest mocha head recedes and leaves a thin cap.
The aroma consists of chocolate, burnt caramel, roasted malts, mocha and a whiff of alcohol. Very nice.
Smooth in the mouthfeel, almost creamy and mocha like. The carbonation is gentle but slightly tingly. There is a coating of sweetness from the malts; burnt caramel and chocolate. The roasted malt, mocha/coffee and hops bitterness. Slightly nutty and even some spice from the hops. Medium bodied and light for a Porter. Drinkable and even seasonable. I liked it overall.

One of my favorite beer styles from a great brewery, so I have pretty high expectations for this one. This porter pours a very dark black, with a barely detectible red tint. There is a medium, frothy, light tan head. The smell is very pleasant, with some strong roasted grain notes, sweet chocolate mocha, and a light espresso. The taste is much the same. The roasted grain notes are very bold and come to the forefront, but there is a significant mocha presence as well, which is more sweet chocolate than coffee oriented, but not as much so as in smell. There is a measured bitterness in the aftertaste and a slight dryness as well. The body is heavy to a degree that is fitting for the style. This is a bold porter that lives up to my expectations for the most part. It lacks some polish to be sure, being a little overly carbonated and a little lacking in smoothness. However, I think it is definitely underrated. There are better, but it’s a very good porter in my opinion.

Keg at The Barley Mow, Bristol - Pours jet black with a medium tanned head. Medium carbonation. Nice lacing. Aroma - roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee. Taste - roasted coffee at the front with dark chocolate notes leading to a nice long bitter finish. Solid coffee based porter.

Poured to a teku glass.

A: The body is pure black with a beige to brown head, just like an expresso's head. The beer appears to have some lacing but minor head retention.
S: The aroma is great. There's a hoppy accent, very smooth, on a pile of coffee and specially cocoa. This smells wonderfully good.
T: The taste is an extension of the aroma using the hoppiness as a base for the coffee and cocoa profiles. I was actually expecting the coffee to be more powerful than any other flavor but the cocoa is really strong here, specially because it's no milk chocolate variation or a very sweet one. Instead, it's a bitter almost 100% cocoa that's present in the beer and that makes this specific taste be over everything else.
M: The mouthfeel is very consistent, dense and smooth. It's actually more liquor-y than beer-y. :)
O: For a coffee induced beer, this is not the best experience available. I'd say that, besides the aroma, all other characteristics are almost average. But it's an always good to go beer when available.

Stiff brown pour, 3/4" tan head. Aroma drops mocha coffee notes, some chocolate and brown malt.

Not overly hoppy or bitter, this one goes for more of the coffee roasted notes, smoothed out hence the mocha aspect I would surmise. This is one of those straightforward beers Rogue makes that shows they can make good to even great (dbl choc stout) stuff when they aren't trying to totally Dogfish Head up their stuff.

Dark brown. Smells of roasted coffee and malt. Sharp up front with tastes of bitter chocolate and coffee followed by tangy fig. Chocolate flavors in the aftertaste. It's sufficently carbonated and bubbly though I may prefer it just a but more bubbly.

Purchased a single 12 Oz bottle from Total Wine; not sure if there was a bottled on date, didn't look closely enough.
A- extremely carbonated. I vigorous pour yielded about a palms width of head, with a combination of tight small and large bubbles. The head receded slowly leaving an impressive lacing.
S- not sure if coffee was one of the ingredients, but I did get a whiff of coffee on the nose. Very nice Porter from the smell of it.
T - excellent Porter through and through. Coffee starts off the taste, sweetness follows with roast and balancing hop bitterness. Very tasty brew.
O - a very enjoyable brew that is both widely available and reasonably priced.

You can always count on Rogue ales for a good brew. Here you have a dark beer that pours with a thin foamy head. Aroma is roasty with hints of mocha. Taste is rich with roasted malt. Overall, this isn't my favorite of Rogue's lineup, but it is pretty awesome, nonetheless.

L-Pours a dark brown color with a small frothy head that bubbles and hugs the side of the glass. Interesting appearance.
S-The smell is very mellow, yet with this mellow aroma I get quite a bit of notes of coffee. After the first initial draws I get a faint aroma of banana as well.
T-I taste bitterness from the roasted hops and it follows greatly with the slight flavor of coffee. The flavor really follows the nose. As the beer warms the flavor gets more complex.
F-Medium bodied. Frothy and full in the beginning. Hearty feel.
O-Everything about this porter is very good and I enjoyed drinking it! It is extremely complex and may be one of the most solid porters I've ever tried. Delicious coffee flavor mixed with unique bitterness makes this porter stand out. You will like it for sure.

I really like Rogue beers, (with the exception of the chipotle ale), and this is no exception. While this isn't my favorite Rouge beer, that title goes to the Shakespeare Stout, it is very well done and enjoyable to drink.

Whoa!? Am I drinking a porter or an IPA? It says porter which it has hints of but this is more an IPA style than porter for sure. It's not a bad beer but it is misleading.

A- Love the masculine bottle with the bold font and picture...the brew itself pours a heavy dark brown with caramel/tan colored foam on the head that dissipates quickly, however it remains dense and creamy in appearance. The carbonation looks to be fine and lacing is stringy and oily on the side of the glass....good overall!

S- Upon the initial pour, there were strong hints of booze laced chocolate covered ripe banana, but this subsides more into a dry coffee/dark chocolate aroma, with mild sweetness and dry unmalted grains, along with black and toasty malts...perhaps some coffee smells blended into the mix.

T- Heavy and dry in the sense of dense high cocoa content chocolate, black coffee, heavily roasted dark malts, hints of molasses sweetness, nutty richness and a well blended vanilla finish that lingers after the swallow....a well balanced and flavorful dry porter!

M/O- This is light in body but heavy and creamy in texture....the carbonation is fairly aggressive and the beer maintains its complexity throughout the experience....i don't find it changes much as it warms, which I kind of like....I would put this with the best porters out there and would buy again! It is highly drinkable and would pair well with a chocolate cake as an example....recommended!

The best porter I've ever had. The smell is wonderful; a blend of coffee, chocolate, and beer. Almost perfect taste. I' would give it a 5 for taste but then my search is over. Slightly under carbonated.

Cold, poured from a bottle into a snifter

Appearance: Dark brown, almost black color, pours with a half-inch tan head which disappears quickly. Lacing clings down the side of the glass.

Smell: Malty & roasty with hints of dark chocolate and caramel.

Taste: Light carbonation, medium body,

Mouthfeel: Nice aroma of espresso and nuttiness lingers for a while. Nothing much of any mocha or chocolate as the name implies. The finish is dry but creamy.

Overall
The mocha name is a little misleading as I was hoping it would be in the taste. It's slightly on the too-hoppy side of how I like porters but not nearly as bad as an Anchor.

Dark brown pour with almost no head. Aroma is malty and roasted, with a hint of cocoa. Flavor is somewhat light, with barely a trace of chocolate, and only coffee notes in the dry finish. Not a bad beer, but needs more of the mocha all around.

A true black, with tan head which starts out big, but is quick to melt. Not sure I feel the "Mocha" is a headliner here. Sure, this Porter has notes of espresso and dark chocolate, but not to an such an extent that it stands out from countless other commercial examples of this style. More prominent is the roasted grainy malt and gentle, yet peppery hops. It's a fine flavor profile, but not very complex, especially since a thin, watery mouthfeel is unable to support potentially stronger tastes. With medium carbonation and a smooth finish, this more closely resembles a Schwarzbier. Perhaps some of the disappointment comes from the letdown prompted by the many-layered aroma of dark fruit, brown sugar, and molasses--none of these Baltic Porter aspects of come through in the taste.

It's black with one finger of head that dissapates fast. It does smell like a stout, roastiness and coffee, but both faint. The first thing I noticed was how think and light it is. The flavors are lacking, just not much there. I will not buy again.

A decent porter. Not that much mocha, all in all. But a porter, a good, classic one.

Nose has hints of coffee, but not more so than Anchor or similar ones.
Taste is what you'd expect, with a alight charred malt flavor, hints of caramel, chocolate, coffee.
Little carbonation, makes for a smooth beer.
Thin beige head, sticks around.

A good beer, I personally like Viven and such better, but still really good.

Bought from Bev Mart $2.69 12 ounce. Dark color, thick mouthfeel, smooth but weak in taste. I was expecting a bolder taste from it so maybe my expectations were too high. It's a fine beer, but I would prefer a more pronounced tasting porter.

This is a very interesting beer. I've never had a mocha porter, so maybe it's just new to me. Much drier than I'm accustomed to in a porter. Overall came together higher than individual ratings. As a result of being slightly drier the chocolate takes on a cocoa powder property. Unique.

Pours black with a small head.
Nose shows sweet toast and nutty malt along with prominent chocolate notes.
Flavours include more soft roast, toasty malt and nutty hints along with a nice bit of sweetness.
