Dark ruby with a rather dark tan lace.
Chocolate, coffee and sweet malt.
Smooth and dense, slippery on the tongue.
Roasted malts combine with a touch of chocolate, coffee, and a nice hop toward the end helps round things out. Very roasted finish that sticks around.
Good Stuff from the guys at Rogue!

A dense head lingered for a couple of minutes on this nearly opaque porter. I noticed a soft, but not overpowering roasty cocoa aroma as I sniffed. I detected no hop aroma.

Upon taking a sip, it became obvious why this is called mocha. The blend of cocoa, coffee carried though to the end with a pleasing aftertaste that made me want to have more. The slight maltiness was balanced well with the hop bitterness and roasted malts. The flavor really came through as the beer warms up.

Mouthfeel was pleasant and appropriate, improved as the beer warms, and carbonation dropped a bit. I really enjoyed this beer.

As black as you could hope a porter to be. The head is brown and sadly pretty small. I smell roasty malts, a faint sourness, and boom, coffee/chocolate galore. Taste is firstly smokey roasted malts, followed by a twang of citrus hops and then dominated by the coffee and chocolate. Not much sweetness which is good in my opinion. This to my novice tongue, seems to be right on the cusp of actually being a stout. Either way though, it tastes great and is one I will revisit. Mouthfeel is creamy and good. I consider this one a real treat.

Dark as night... pitch black with a huge tan foamy head. The head simply refuses to disipate in the least bit.

Dark berries, chocolate, malt... reminiscent of Storm King's aroma, though not quite as hefty.

Chocolate and coffee bitterness on the front end, strong mocha bitterness on the finish.

A bit thin... leaves something to be desires in my mind.... then again, I know I prefer thicker beers, so for a porter, I suppose this isnt bad.

Immensely drinkable and equally enjoyable... another good one from Rogue.

The pour creates a very dark black color, with a very nice fluffy, creamy, foamy dark tan head. Notes of chocolate, mocha coffee, and hops in the aroma. The same can be found in the taste mocha, notes of chocolate, with nice hop balance. Overall I enjoyed this one very much! An excellent Porter!

Appearance: Poured into a snifter - I was at my grandparent's house, and they didn't have a great deal of appropriate glassware, but this seemed the most appropriate. This beer was completely opaque, with a creamy light brown head, great retention, and thick, foamy lacing. Very attractive, nice to look at.

Smell: Sweet caramel notes, buttery toffee, and lots of smoke! Alcohol is also rather prevalent, but not distractingly so. Very complex.

Taste: Chocolate, coffee, and sweet caramels - so mild! Alcohol can hardly be detected. Toasted notes leave a slightly astringent/bitter taste in the finish (could be the hops, too), but it's a good bitterness, like a nice espresso.

Mouthfeel: SO smooth. Quite possibly one of the smoothest beers I've ever had the pleasure of drinking. Very mellow and creamy, with a good carbonation profile. Near-perfect.

Drinkability: Most excellent, very smooth and complex, I could drink a sixer by myself. Much smoother and more mild than most porters I've had.

Poured into a pint glass.

A- Slight coffee

A- Nearly black with slight reddish/garnet character at the edges.

F- Proper porter flavors with some nice chocolate notes. Minimal astrigency. The rogue house flavor is there gently reminding my of Dead Guy Ale. I'm sure this is from the PacMan Yeast.

M- Light and easily drinkable.

O- A really nice darker beer. I'm not a huge porter/stout drinker. This one works for me, probably because of the lack of astrigency. A perfect winter beer for someone how likes to have more than one at a sitting.

$2.49 single bottle poured into a pint glass. It's been awhile since I've had a Rogue beer.

Appearance: A slightly hazy black and dark ruby color. Two fingers of a mocha head that actually stays at one for quite awhile. Lacing's pretty good. The head itself is pretty creamy. Looks great.

Smell: Coffee. Dark chocolate. Some malty sweetness. Truthfully, all to be said about this beer -- and that's not a bad thing. Fits well with the style and name of the beer. Easier to pick up when the beer warms.

Taste: Semi-sweet mocha right at the start, and almost through to the end. The finish adds some roasted malts to the whole thing to keep it from being overly sweet. Not overly complex, but very enjoyable regardless. Gets a touch sweeter as it warms up, which is fine with me.

Feel: I think this is about perfect for a porter, as I know the style. It's got a medium body with a pretty creamy mouthfeel, but it's not as big as a stout is/should be. Somewhat prickly carbonation on the front of the tongue on the finish.

Suddenly one of my favorite porters, if not my favorite (Edmund Fitzgerald is up there as well). The one thing about this beer, while I enjoy it a bit more than Edmund Fitz (mostly because of the feel), it's also a dollar or two more expensive for a six pack... I'm not sure I like it THAT much more. Rogue Mocha Porter is a pleasant tasting, easy drinking, sessionable porter that I could gladly enjoy a few of. Definitely try this beer.

Pours a pitch black with a tan head and light lacing. Smell isn't as strong as I would have expected (or liked), certainly not as predominant as something like BBC's Coffeehouse Porter. This beer tastes very delicious. It's a very balanced beer that didn't taste as bitter as I expected. It's lighter than I expected but a solid medium-to-heavy bodied with low carbonation and high drinkability. I prefer their Chocolate Stout but this is a great beer that I'd consider committing to in keg form.

Dark cola-brown body with a dark tan head. Smells of sweet roasted chocolate barley, with little hop presence (especially for a rogue beer). Taste starts with sweet, dark chocolate up front, followed by roasted coffee. Finish is smoky, bitter, and appetizingly dry. Delicious.

One of my favorite beer styles from a great brewery, so I have pretty high expectations for this one. This porter pours a very dark black, with a barely detectible red tint. There is a medium, frothy, light tan head. The smell is very pleasant, with some strong roasted grain notes, sweet chocolate mocha, and a light espresso. The taste is much the same. The roasted grain notes are very bold and come to the forefront, but there is a significant mocha presence as well, which is more sweet chocolate than coffee oriented, but not as much so as in smell. There is a measured bitterness in the aftertaste and a slight dryness as well. The body is heavy to a degree that is fitting for the style. This is a bold porter that lives up to my expectations for the most part. It lacks some polish to be sure, being a little overly carbonated and a little lacking in smoothness. However, I think it is definitely underrated. There are better, but it’s a very good porter in my opinion.

This beer poured a black color with a thick tan head. The smell is sweet and a bit like caramel. It has hints of caramel, chocolate and coffee in the taste – which is quite delicious. The mouthfeel is thick and a bit chewy. For a heavy beer, this is delightful and not tiresome – drinkable within reason.

Poured into a pint glass. Head tension noticeable. Smells of chocolate and mild roast coffee present. Gulp. Nice bite, smooth and warming. The Mocha in the title is not a lie, it plays very will in the finished product on this one.

Been trying several Rogue beers in recent times. This is a perfect example of a chocolate infused porter. This beer makes for a great end of dinner drink and a better night cap.

Recommend: Yes, for my friends and myself. Foes not included.

Had this on draft at my local pub. Black in color with a great coffee/chocolate smell. I am usually not a fan of the burnt flavor in porters but this beer was a great mix of the smoky, chocolate and coffee flavor. While I enjoyed it as a treat it wouldnt be something I could drink all night.

Poured from twelve ounce bottle to a glass. Pours very dark with a thick two finger foamy dark tan head. Has a wonderful spicy coffee and roasted malt aroma. Good roasted taste with just enough mocha flavor. The body is a little thin but that adds to the drinkability a bit. Has good spice and a little bit of a hop finish. Very enjoyable.

A - Pours opaque black with a 1 finger creamy brown head.

S - Bitter dark chocolate, roasted malt, hints of coffee grounds.

T - Dark chocolate with hints of roasted malt and coffee. It starts out slightly bitter and builds with each sip. It tastes like bitter dark chocolate but I can distinguish if it is the chocolate or the hops contributing the bitterness.

M - Medium to full bodied for a porter and nicely carbonated. The bitterness builds up to a very dry finish.

D - Great porter that is a little on the bitter side. Highly recommended for porter fans.

Rogue's Mocha Porter is a nice alternative to the heavier, more bitter chocolate stouts. It's not that complex, but rather simply well made and well rounded. This makes it very easy to drink more than one or two, as well as more palatable to people who might shy away from bitterness.

The great thing about the flavor is that it is rich without being overly sweet and syrupy. This is what often separates good beer from bad beer. The name Mocha Porter pretty much says it all.

Pours murky brown with cinnamon head that goes quickly. Sweet aroma of mocha, cinnamon bread, malt. Slight sweets with real substance behind it: cinnamon, mocha, slight hops, toasted raisin bread with some butter, some tangy plum flavors toward the finish. Medium bodied brew with great drinkability. Not too heavy or light in flavor or body.

Poured an extremely dark brown with a surprisingly large, light brown head that left a sticky web on the inside of the glass. The chocolate and coffee in this porter is very noticeable and up-front, but it's tastefully done and does not overwhelm the palate. This was a very satisfying beer that woke up my taste buds and left me with an appetite for a good meal.
