reviewing this as a shark tooth ale, which is an alias i guess

-looks like a decent ale. golden yellow with some fogginess

-smells like a decent smelling lager aka not much

-really, really faint in the hops taste. some metallic taste which is more apparent thanks to eliott.

-feels a bit weird in the aftertaste. sits on your tongue like bitterness would

-didn't really enjoy it much. 1st rogue really that i not so much liked

When did I first have this? Freshman/Sophomore year of college is about the first time. I member when bombers of this were "special" beer that would pretty much guarantee you'd be gettin' yr dick wet in rural Nevada. Honey beer pours a honey color, although I guess this is the golden ale, but you get the point. Respectable 1/2" white head, this looks like a proud beer at the outset. Aroma is pretty much just grain. Golden waves of grain.

Taste is one of the easiest drinking beers out there. Reminds me of Grain Belt. Less 6 row i guess. Lots of carbonation all over it. Its a mild blonde/golden ale and it fits all the contours of something like that. Wasn't a bad beer to have on hand, crowd pleaser if you will. In this day and age beer is more of a niche specialty subgenre that people get into, not a lot of golden ale fans. It was decent in its simplicity and execution.

Under the label "White Crane Bitter Ale", at 6.5%abv.; coming in a 355ml bottle, BB 05/12/14, served lightly chilled in a straight imperial pint glass.

A: pours a clear, dark orangey amber colour coming with a well-lasting light beige frothy head and constant streams of mild carbonation.
S: fairly aromatic gristy pale malts, burned sugar and caramelised orangey aroma come at the front; given a swirl, a clean-ish note of sweet leafy herbs, even more aromatic maltiness as of crystal malts and peachy+orangey blossom chime in, but overall the aroma retains a rather intriguingly clean profile.
T: effervescent on the entry, the foretaste is intriguingly sweet and malty, showing lots of quality aroma from toasted malts such as crystal/Munich malts and roast barley, with the former’s nutty toffee-ish-ness and a lightly dry-ish touch of the latter, plus extra candy-ish taste, and a mildly spicy-citric taste of hops as a balancer; closely ensued by a wave of dry-ish bitter hops which turns slightly chewy in the end, with a tinge of alc. warmth lingering in the end.
M&O: the mouthfeel remains refreshing and softly carbonated, against a moderate flavour profile and a generally solid but not thick body; overall, this malty brew is quite different to all other Rogue’s ales I’ve had so far, due to its emphasis on the aromatic maltiness on the balance. Very well made, although I’d prefer if a bit more hops were applied to render just a bit more bitterness overall, esp. at the relatively high alc. content based on a simpler flavour profile.
