From a can, pours as black and opaque with a thick tan head. Smells just like a chocolate shake. Tastes like a creamy sweet chocolate malt without the frozen coldness. Overall, it's more of a creamy beverage rather than a beer. Nice, but odd.

13.65oz can poured into a wine glass

A- pours jet black with a thick and creamy khaki head that has great retention long after the pour

S- smells of roasted barley, milk chocolate, caramel, marshmallow

T- sweet milk chocolate up front is followed by notes of sweet caramel, vanilla and marshmallow. The finish is semi-sweet and malty, with a linger of chocolate and mallow

M- medium body with a thick and creamy mouthfeel that continues into a silky, velvety finish

O- nitro makes every stout better, including this one

1/16/22 Canned 10/20/20. Disappointed, perhaps a due to age. Thin, not creamy head, low carbonation. Chocolate comes through loud & clear. Body is thin. Not too sweet. Could be really good with more vibrancy. Lesson learned - check the date! Prefer Stone Tres Leche.

Appearance:
An impermeable, glossy, obsidian under an ultrafine carpet of beige foam. As is characteristic of a nitro, the head is flawlessly level, laces like a luxuriant curtain, and has certifiably eternal retention.

Bouquet:
Like someone poured a rich stout over big chunks of melty, milk chocolate.

Feel:
An irrefutably smooth medium. All pillowy softness and gently babbling carbonation.

Taste:
Toasted dark malts, drenched in a bitter, smokey coffee that concludes with robust, roasted oats. Slowly trickling between it all are rivulets of dark chocolate syrup.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is black, head is tan with fine bubbles, head presents 1 finger thick then dissipates quickly to a thin top.

Smell is chocolate and chocolate malt, very light roast, marshmallow, light creamy or lactose note.

Taste is very similar with a bitter chocolate addition: notes of chocolate, roast, chocolate malt, marshmallow, cream/lactose.

Mouthfeel is low/smooth nitro effervescence, moderate/strong sweetness, bitter chocolate finish.

Overall a nicely sweet, slightly bitter and a bit creamy from the nitro and lactose(?).

T: follows the nose from start to finish; medium bodied at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate, creamy carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: luscious; great dessert beer;

Bought a single 13.65oz can $3.99 Village Bottle Shop
330 days old. Should have looked at can date.
Smell of coffee, chocolate
Dark black color
Medium, creamy mouthfeel
Low carbonation after pour
Tastes of chocolate, coffee, lighter tasting than I had expected. Probably due to age.
Overall ok. Could be the age of it has mellowed the flavors.

Desert in a glass. If that's not what you're into, look somewhere else. This was a great treat all on its own. And then someone made an ice cream float with it and it was just perfect.

Pours black with a 1 1/2 inch creamy tan head, which lasts. Heavy lacing to the end.

Aroma of chocolate, roast malt coffee.

Taste is dark chocolate, roast malt, coffee. A bit astringent.

Full bodied, light carbonation. Creamy, oily finish with lingering chocolate.

Very nice chocolate stout. Creamy, thick and decadent.

(13.65 fl oz can; canned: 03/03/21; purchased single off shelf... poured into a Belhaven proper pint)

L: frayed head slowly smooths out, leaving an almost finger-width high, dense, tan-hued foam pad; liquid is a clear, very dark crimson... cap stays steady till the end, but the thick sheet of lace is dragged down the glass with it, never keeping cling

S: cocoa puffs, woodsy evergreen hops, subtle note of coffee grounds... after foam stabilizes: car upholstery, hint of vinyl pool liner (or rubber gloves), cocoa-dusted chocolate truffle... muted aromas, naturally, but the chocolate pushes through enough

T: chocolate chip, mid-note of raisin, more chocolate chip (nonpareil) in the aftertaste along with a subtle piney, shrubby undertone; but not '69' IBU-bitter it seems... about halfway through, and the prevailing flavor is the sanded-down, (low-sweetened) caramel-kissed roasted barley, accented by a touch of herbal hop bitterness

F: slight viscous shell around a light-bodied, clean-rinsing middle... similar to any nitro (dry) stout, but with a touch more residual drag

O: not quite up to par with my favorite English chocolate stouts, but worth a go, maybe worth another try, though I'd prefer to get my hands on a sixer of the standard version; haven't seen that one in a long while (1772)

Once the chocolate faded halfway through this became forgettable, I want to try the regular one though as nitros are not my preference at all. Overall I'd say it was decent.

Solid beer with a creamy mouthfeel. Getting some low key roasted coffee but the creamy mouthfeel dominates the beer. Very low bitterness too. Overall solid beer.

Pours a dark brown color with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Minimal head considering it's a nitro beer. Aroma is chocolate and roasted w. Tastes like dark chocolate and black coffee; not sweet. Good mouth feel.

Great chocolate taste, but not as creamy as I was expecting for a nitro beer (maybe better on tap instead of in a can like I had?) I gotta say too...a little ticked that they are in 13.65oz cans, so not a full pint. I mean cmon. I’d you’re gonna sell it in 4 packs at least make them full pints or at least close.

A- Pours a dark chocolate brown color, and presents very opaquely.....has a creamy rich appearance. The head is small, but retains very well, due to the nitro infusion, and is a light tan color. The lacing is awesome, with a complete covering of foam around the inside of the glass and it sticks rather well, with only a couple of shapes sliding back into the liquid. Carbonation is too hard to see.

S- I get a bitter cocoa aroma, that seems very traditional for this style, with some black coffee, cafe au lait, chicory, vanilla creme, toasty dark chocolate and black malts and a finish that is somewhat bitter and/or astringent. Overall a nice smelling stout with just a hint of creaminess!

T- This has a very nice milk chocolate flavor, like a Hershey bar, and plenty of bittering black and chocolate malt char. Underlying hints of vanilla, chocolate truffle, cocoa, creamy coffee, and some dry Earthy astringency on the finish. A nice tasting beer, if not a little disappointing in my opinion.

M/O- Excellent mouthfeel and shows very smooth carbonation due to the carbonation, and has a medium-full body. Overall I don't mind this one but I think it doesn't live up to the Rogue standard. The flavors are a little weak for my liking and I guess I just expected more. Would I enjoy this again?....absolutely! Would I go out of my way to enjoy this again.....not as excited about the prospect....still above average!

This is my first nitro beer and it has changed my perspective on texture. I never thought a beer could be so creamy and bubbly all at once. As far as taste, this is a melted Hershey’s kiss in a glass. I love it. I had it fresh from the freezer at a very low temperature and it changed my life. I want more.

Pours a dark thick nitro stout that layers up like the best. Nose of chocolate and vanilla. Taste and feel reminds me of a thinner chocolate milkshake. I will probably add a few more of these to the fridge to share with friends.

Pours almost black, with a creamy nitro head. Smells like cocoa. Mouth feel is disappointingly thin to me. It needs a little more body to work with the chocolatey vibe. The taste is roasted malts and baker's chocolate. It has a nice bite too it that keeps it from being overly sweet. Overall, a nice chocolate outing that I've already had more than once.

Poured into a 16 oz tulip glass canned on 10/22/2020. Pours a very dark brown, with a half finger tan head that leaves no lace, but slowly settles. 4

Smell bakers chocolate, vanilla, and toffee. 3.75

Taste follows simple chocolate, vanilla, and toffee pretty tasty but very one dimensional. 3.75

Mouthfeel is almost medium, not dry or sticky, creamy as you would expect from a nitro stout, and at 5.8% very easy drinking. 4

Overall very happy I just picked up a single, just a very safe beer. Would love to see them put out the double version on nitro but this one is pretty good. 3.75

Sixteen ounce four pack copped from Total Wine and More in West Orange. Pours smoothly, with the viscosity of a chocolate milkshake. Semisweet malt ball aroma present. Similar overall flavor profile with a Three Musketeers finish. Not bad.

My best friend Jon Passow gave me a can of this recently. Poured out of a 16 oz. can into one of my many pint glasses, this beer pours a very dark brown, almost black color with a creamy looking, tan head that's a solid 1/3 inch thick when first poured with excellent retention. Decent lacing. Aromas of toasted malts with strong chocolate and nice lactose notes. Also a hint of earthy hops. A very similar flavor profile, with toasted malts and milk chocolate sweetness along with a bit of bitterness too and lactose. All this is rounded out with a touch of earthy hops. The roastyness is a bit too astringent for my palate, like the malts were a bit over-roasted/slightly burned. This aspect of the flavor profile could and should be refined, as to my palate, this drinks too much like an Irish Dry Stout. This aspect does balance out a bit as the beer sits and warms, but the over roast/slight burnt taste still sits on my palate after each sip in the after taste. Has a creamy, frothy, smooth, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Not too shabby, but could use some revamping for sure.
