From the 22 oz bottle in a snifter. This decent red pours a dark husky
red tinged brown color with a fantastic head of off white sticky foam
that settles to a thick ring, thick pooling layer, and showcases nice
sticky lacing. Nose of spicy hops, sweet caramel malts, and sticky pine
laden hops. Flavors lightly exceed the nose with sticky caramel malt
awash in layers of spicy hops and resinous pine hop flavors touched with
earthy malt notes on the middle to rear of the taste. Decent mouth feel;
medium body, lightly sticky from hop use, medium low carbonation, and
a caramel and hop infused finish.

Overall, a classic red pale verging on and IPA but still solid.

Cheers

Poured from the bottle into a glass.

Murky dark rust color.

Huge white head; spotty lacing.

Caramel malts dominate; hop backbone. Smells a bit like a barleywine.

Medium thin mouthfeel.

Tastes like a palatable barleywine, but ultimately this is too dry & bitter on the back end. Not awful but difficult to finish.

A darker SRM, this one seems like a red and a brown ale in the appearance at the same time. Good 1/2" head. Aroma kicked down some pine notes and was a pleasant surprise. Amarillo did good here.

Taste wasn't as hoppy, you get a lot of those darker malt notes. Chocolate malt interesting placement mouthfeel wise. At different stages of this beer you'll pick up on aspects of it that you don't normally have in the same beer.

Bomber format sucks, paying more per oz than you normally would, but at least they're painted bottles you can reuse easier.

This is a GREAT looking beer - reminds me of Pamela Anderson or my stunned (but beautiful) Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I don't know Captain Sig's story, but I certainly like his beer. This is a malt-forward, nicely balanced red. I have been a Rogue fan for 20 years now, and I love it when their beers reach or exceed expectations.
