serving: poured into glass
Color: very dark, frothy mocha colored head, does not stick
Smell: very faint mocha/malt, not much smell. disappointing as I expected much more mocha. Not sure where people are getting the overload of smell from.
Taste: Light consistency for a dark beer, malt like in taste, not very strong mocha/chocolate taste. Leaves a nice mocha after taste. Slight bitterness not too much.Very easy to drink.

Solid beer but not worthy of a high rating IMO. Good entry level dark beer for someone who does not drink them but would like much more smell and taste.

Sorry for the stunted review, but until there's an app, it's going to be hard to review beers from bars and restaurants...

Poured very dark brown and left a sticky tan lacing on the pint glass. Looks good.

Smells malty and I can get the mocha (slightly). I expected a stronger nose.

I get the mocha taste, but it's more malt (like malted milk) than mocha. Slightly bitter, maybe too overly hopped.

The body is a little too watery for my preference. It is disappointing.

Overall, it's not bad, but it didn't blow me away.

The name of this beer is inviting, but after going inside you realize its hype is *a bit* oversold.

Serving vessel is a Chimay goblet.

Looks fine. Dark brown. Head is nice and brown, and it has good hang time---a light sheen remains to the last sip.

Smell seems a little weak to me, not enough to complain, but I was hoping for a stronger aroma of everything. Still though, a big inhale reveals some good maltiness and chocolate notes.

Taste is a bit hot. At 8.2 I would think it could have been masked more. After your palette gets accustomed, it becomes more agreeable.

Mouthfeel is straight down the line porter---what you would expect.

Overall, not my favorite of this genre. It is drinkable, but I might select a Yeti or Southern Tier version before this. I would not turn it down though.

Love the regular mocha porter. Loads of awesome chocolate here on the nose, really not much else. No coffee or roastiness to speak of as I would expect from a porter. The flavor is nearly chocolate syrup, but short of cloying. Thick and viscous with just adequate carbonation. Really more of an imperial stout. Despite being off of the porter style, this beer is damn good. Great for dessert, just like their double stout.
