Cloudy orange in color without much of a head. The aromas tend toward sweet toffee and caramel with some orange and other citrus. These aromas translate into similar flavors, but they are also balanced by nice bitterness and bite from the hops. Well-balanced malts and hops and very easy drinking.

Pours dark red with a bit of cloudiness. Massive rocky head never dissipates, very impressive. Sweet maltyness and some herbal, citrus hoppiness in the nose. caramel, and dried fruit malt mix with leafy, piney, citrusy hops in the taste. Bitterness doesn't seem like the 90ibus on the bottle.

A nice malt centric APA with high hop bitterness. Could be a bit more aromatic in the hop department. Still definitely worth a try.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into pint...

A: pours a murky, rust color with a thick head of tiny bubbles that settles slowly. leaves some thin lacing and has great head retention.

S: hits the nose as soon as the bottle is opened. piney hops, caramelized grapefruit, and tropical fruits with a praline and biscuity malt background. this is labeled by Ba as an APA, but with this rusty color and sweet malt presence, I'm thinking American amber.

T: very spicy indeed. Resinous and fresh hop flavors are immediately present along with a peppery tropical fruit flavor with a buttery, cracker like malt reminiscent of an English IPA. finishes bitter and sappy

M: medium body with a great balance of carbonation to hops, one thing I've always liked Rogue Ales for. finishes dry and resiny.

Overall, friggin great. Wish I had bought two. We need more brewers who are willing to grow their own. Would definitely buy again first chance!

Bottle.
Appearance: Amber/copper. Hazy. Nice, medium, fuzzy head. Nice lacing.
Smell: juicy fruit gum. Caramel. My wife says guava.......I don't know what guava smells like.
Taste: toasted bread and cracker malts. Earthy and citrus hops followed by a nice grapefruit peel bitterness.
Mouthfeel: medium carbonation. Medium body. Dry.
Overall: meh...decent pale. A little different. Malty. Not bad.

Poured into a chalice AND a pint glass. Take that!

it's a milky reddish-brown, almost looking like apple cider, and leaves some gorgeous lacing on the pint glass. First reaction upon smelling: "it smells like pizza. WHY DOES IT SMELL LIKE PIZZA?" Seriously. Between the yeastiness and, I swear, a tomato scent... almost Spaghettio-esque. I don't understand, but I'm curious.

Yep. Still tastes like Spaghettios. Pizza is gone. Between the yeastiness and the tomato-esque tartness... yeah. Upon further sipping and letting it sit for a minute, I'm finding a very tart maltiness, more like beer and less like Boyardee, though that's still there.

I find the transparency of the GYO angle compelling and really do appreciate the information on the bottle, as well as Rogue trying something it seems isn't a standard on the beer market. It's even a tasty beer! I'm just confused.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass.

The name of this beer is such an awesome pun. Unlike the end theme to Starcraft 2, "Terran Up the Night." (idk, if that's the actual song name but that's the chorus. Imagine the kittens inspired by kittens girl, "yuck!")

The pour of this beer has about three fingers worth of head, that's without an aggressive pour. There's moderate lacing too that lasts during the whole drink. It's a darker amber color, with a little bit of carbonation. All in all a very attractive looking beer.

You can definitely notice the hops in the nose. Their GYO malts add a nice smell which I can only truly describe as "full-bodied." Earthy is also a good word.

The taste too is also earthy. There's a hint of fruit with the hop addition but the malts cut back the bitter, fruitier flavor and make it a little more earthy in it's drink. It's not a terrible flavor but not the greatest.

The mouthfeel is sort of thick and the carbonation you can see is definitely felt in the taste. It's a very easy drink, but a little pricey for this beer. I like it, but if it was a dollar less I'd feel much better about this purchase. I like it, but I think this is a one time thing like.

A: A hazy copper color with a thin off-white head that laces the glass.

S: Toasted caramel malt with a touch of floral hop.

T: A nice sweet caramel and toasted malt flavor with some floral hop and almost pineapple or tropical fruity esters. Bitter and a bit dry in the finish.

M: Medium body with good smooth carbonation. Good feel to it.

O: A quality pale ale. I really like the flavors in the beer. Sweet and fruity, but balanced out by the bitterness from the hop.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a pint glass. Appears a nice amber color with a thick, tan head. The head has great staying power and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is slightly musty. Just doesn't seem quite right. Almost smells like a sweaty sock. There are some slight hop hints, but definitely isn't enjoyable. The taste starts very malty, a nice bready flavor and then becomes slightly bitter. The hops added some good spiciness, but there's not really anything overly impressive here. The bitter aftertaste also sticks around for a very long time.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some sharp carbonation. Doesn't exactly go down easily, but after a few, it gets easier. Overall, nothing impressive.. The aroma and flavors aren't right, and I'm just not feeling these traits together...

650ml bottle poured into pint glass july1 2010

A cloudy reddish amber with a two finger head that has great retention and leaves several partial rings of lace, the head slowly falls to an island slowly shrinking to a brain like looking glob that stays there until the bottom of the glass

S lots of caramel, citrus and a little biscuit

T much malt gets along well with the fruity hops and plenty of what I smell

M thick when considering the color and flavors hang around for a while, decent carbonation creams it up a bit in the mouth

D nothing overpowers anything in this beer, well rounded and has a great balance working for it

great beer going on here please try it if you get the chance, I will admit I've been most impressed with the GYO brews (mind you this is only the second one I've had) can't wait for some more to hit the shelves here in Alberta.
