From old, undated notes; poured from the bottle.
Murky dark orange color.
Nice white head; thick lacing.
The nose is frankly amazing; smells like a delicious breakfast. Maple syrup and bacon, just like the name says. Slight smokiness. It would be worth buying this beer for the nose alone, no joke.
Medium mouthfeel.
The taste follows the nose: it's like eating bacon dipped in maple syrup. Smokiness provides a subtle but noticeable backbone.
Truly an amazing brew; I salute Rogue for their ingenuity.

Strong smoke taste. Strong bacon flavor. Subtle maple flavor. All in all, too many flavors that don't mix all that well together in a beer. Not for me.

The aroma offers woody smoke, maple, oxidation.
The beer is thin on the palate and smokey. Bacony with some meaty flavors along with a hint of maple flavor as well. However, not really balanced by much sweetness as the malts don't carry the flavors all that well with that light bready and toasted quality. A good amount of oxidation with the age. Falling on the palate quickly.

Large shared 2012(?) bottle that didn't get finished even with 5 people sharing it (although there was plenty of competition in the form of better beers).
Very smoky aroma and too much smoke in the flavor.
Overall: Sound good? ... look into Funky Buddha. This one is a smoky-sweet mess.

From note staken 04/05/16:
Semi-clear orange-copper. Fluffy, uniform, film-forming, tan head of moderate retention. Strongest aroma is maple syrup, very much like vanilla extract. Pleasant in my opinion, even if a little forced. Some wood smoked bacon notes as well. About as one would hope or expect from such a beer. Glad it didn’t smell more like bacon, honestly. And it tastes almost exactly like maple-smoked bacon with syrup-soaked pancakes, quite roasty-smoky, even sweet. Only thing missing is the saltiness of bacon. Earthy, leathery hops that go well with other flavors. Weird for sure but still not as nasty as it sounds. Still, not at all what I want in a beer, and a little hard to drink at a decent pace, and it is 750 ML, so I will get sick of it in no time at all. Hoping the Raspberry and Lemon ones are better. Medium-bodied, viscous with medium, fine, dense, smoothening carbonation. Would not purchase this again but looking forward to others in the Voodoo Doughnut series.

That auburn and amber color kind of surprised me, I was expecting something darker to carry flavors like maple and bacon. The aroma was heavenly, really hit those maple notes big time. A little bit of smoke and sugar after that. Bacon didn't pop for me though.
Gigantic amounts of smoked malts and maybe even liquid smoke in this one. Frankly, too much. Bacon still being searched for. This beer started out with low expectations, then the aroma got them all high, then the taste and mouthfeel was too dominated by smoke to allow everything in the aroma to shine in the taste. I could see this beer being tweaked to be pretty good. Just not there as is though.
