Pours orangey-amber with one finger of white head, not much in the way of lace. Smell is full on maple and smoke, bacon and lightly sweet bready malts, easy to pick out the maple, bacon and doughnut, its actually very nice to smell. The taste is mostly smoke, light sweetness, smoked bacon and meat flavours followed by maple and bready malt, smoke in aftertaste as well. Light body with med-high carb, fairly thin body. Better than I thought it would be and mildly enjoyable, smell is fantastic though.

Thanks to my brother for sharing this bottle. I really had no idea what to expect, so I tried to go in with an open mind.

The beer pours and orange-amber color with a white head. The aroma is definitely heavy on the smoke, with some maple syrup notes thrown in. Not bad. The flavor is also pretty heavy on the woody smoke, with some maple syrup and toffee notes thrown in. All of those notes mix fairly well together. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Surprisingly, I don't hate the beer. The four or five ounces I had were enough, but I thought the beer was OK and am glad I got to try it. I thought all the notes mixed pretty well together, they were just so strong and in your face that it would be tough to drink too much of this beer.

Aroma is full of smoke and bacon, with a slight hint of maple syrup to round it off. It's almost too much, and it's not a great smell.

The beer pours out a somewhat hazy dark honey color with a white head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing to speak of.

Big big smoke on in the flavor. It's all I really taste, actually. It is just so hard to get past, that I find it somewhat offensive. When I breathe, I can taste it all over again. This beer, I think, I will be tasting for a few hours to come.

Moderate body and medium carbonation, the mouthfeel isn't bad at all. If anything, this is where it exceles, a normal mouthfeel. Overall though, this is really not a good effort. I have to drain pour it.

I tried this beer on June 1, 2012 after purchasing from the King and Spadina LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent amber colour with a tan coloured head that lasts. The maple can be smelled across the room from the glass while a direct whiff reveals bread and smoked wood. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was dominated by the smokiness with maple and malt in the mix. Far from outstanding.

Enjoyed this 12oz bottle out of a large snifter glass.

A: Pours a clear copper hue with a 2-finger white head that quickly dissipates leaving a decent trail down the glass.

S: Maple syrup and bacon aroma dominate this beer

T: Wow – nothing subtle about this bacon flavoring. Good maple syrup background but gets pushed aside by the bacon.

M: Medium body and carbonation.

O: Bacon Good. Beer Good. Bacon + Beer = not so good. Glad I tried it – but I’ll pass next time.

Really excited to finally get to try this one. Heard some interesting things and finally nabbed a bottle.

A: Pours a clear copper color with a 1/2 finger sand colored head. Pretty good retention.

S: Uh oh. What did I get myself into? Tons of smoked malt, syrup soaked IHOP pancake, molasses, burnt wood and some burnt bacon fat. Starting to second guess my choice.

T: Yeah, this isn't good. The base beer is super light and does not do well with all the heavy and smoky flavors this beer has going on. Booze soaked pancake flavor upfront with notes of charred malt, liquid smoke and maybe a touch of doughnut glaze. Finish brings a boatload of smoke and peaty dryness. Mouthfeel is way, way thin, almost reminding me of a lager. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

From 05/31/12 notes. Been wanting to try this one for a while despite the reviews. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into my Bell's tulip.

a - Pours a deep murky amber color with two inches of fluffy off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of maple, smoke, bacon, fruit, sugar, and sweet fruity malts.. Smoke and maple are very strong in the taste, and are pretty nice.

t - Tastes of smoke, bacon, maple, fruity malts, sweet molasses and sugar. Taste is similar to the nose, but less maple and not as sweet. A step down for me.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation, pretty smooth body.

o - Overall a decent smoked beer, though the smoke is very strong. Nose is exactly what I imagine they were going for, though the maple is faded in the taste. Interesting to try but wouldn't seek it out again, one to share for sure.
