Cool pink-painted 750ml capped bottle. Im no doughnut connaisseur so never had a doughnut like this, maybe never will. I like smoked beers though so here's to hoping this one isn't ruined by being too ambitious. I had it once before, but was blacked out at the time so have no idea what it is like.

It pours a translucent orangeish amber with a foamy off-white head.

The smell is sweet and mapley. I didn't expect this much maple to come through. There is some smoked malt hanging around in there as well as bacon and some NW hops. It is also hoppier than I was expecting.

The flavor is very honey-biscuit like. I'm assuming the ingredients aren't in order of greatest to least because it isn't that smoky of a beer. It instead is quite hoppy with really honey maple like malt notes. Decent bitterness form the hops, nothing that noteworthy but I was not expecting the hops to play much of a role. It helps in balancing the beer, but the flavors don't really mesh.

The bacon adds some texture to the mouthfeel making a bit oilier. It leaves an oily residue on the tongue as you go.

I good breakfast beer but nothing mindblowing. Give me a Schlenkerla.

Bright pink 750ml bottle into a pint glass.

A - Dark amber/brown body. Dirty off-white head with minimal lacing and retention.

S - Smells like breakfast. Super smokey malts and some maple sweetness. Smells fantastic.

T - More breakfast awesomeness. Smokey bacon with underlying maple sweetness. No hops to speak of. Mouth feel is a bit on the thin side, but makes its pretty easy drinking despite the huge amount of smoke.

O - Not really understanding the massive hatred towards this beer. Its a bit one dimensional, but it totally comes off as maple candied bacon. Tasty stuff.

No freshness dating

A= Pours a deep amber color with an off white head that rises to a finger high and holds solid lacing and some decent retention.

S= Maple and smoke all the way. Actually smells a lot like maple bacon or a delicious dessert. The smell is unreal. The smokiness is tame compared to the sugary sweet maple aroma and the biscuity malt but it is there holding the breakfast odor up.

T= The smoke plays a more dominate role in the taste with the maple following up behind. This isn't as bad as I've heard it to be. I've heard nothing but really bad things about this beer but it's not that bad. Actually a little better than I expected being that it is a beer trying to replicate a breakfast. All components are present from the smoke to the maple sweetness following behind it.

M= Smooth and smokey.

O= This beer is better than people have made it sound. It's a beer that tastes like breakfast. Actually pretty easy drinking and the smoke is at a tame enough level for everyone to enjoy. Pick up a bottle go try it because it's unique that's for sure.
