Personally think this pumpkin beer is underrated. Well balanced, not too sweet, pumpkin bread taste. Beautiful color, great long lasting head and good lacing when poured into a snifter. I just opened a bottle of the 2015 brew.

Wow. What a great way to start a fall beer session. This exceeds my expectations.

It pours a great light brown color. Clear, with just a bit of head turning to a light fizz. The aroma is first rate. Not too pumpkin pie (like a Pumpking, though I love those), yet just enough real pumpkin smell.

The taste similarly is real. Real ale (brown?) and real pumpkin, with other stuff, but not too much spice. A nice complex blend. A great refreshment.

The aftertaste is very pleasant. Just a little bite. No booze. This is a very good pumpkin ale. The bottle was a lot cooler than the photo - solid orange.

Appearance: Hazy, muddled orange-brown with a two finger head that dissipates to thin lacing.

Smell: Clove, Cinnamon & nutmeg and some vanilla.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Like the nose elements with a touch of ginger. Water like in it's body with pick up of peppery spice and a very slight heat near the end. Some carbonation lends to a fizzle at the beginning and at the end. lighter in body with a malt background.

Overall: One of the better of the Rogue beers, in my opinion. Wasn't sure of what to make of it, especially the way pumpkin beers are treated, but Rogue did one heck of gourd job with this ale. I will come back to this again when avaliabe and over some other pumpkin beers that line my local beer shelves.

A: Dark copper bordering on dark brown. Light cream foam with a medium carbonation.

S: Vegetable, gourds, cinnamon and nutmeg. Malty caramel. Rich vanilla. Slight alcohol and milky creaminess.

T: Rich malt up front. Strong wheat bread notes. Rich, beefiness and nuttiness of walnuts and almonds. Richness is overtaken by a light tartness and tanginess with cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin celery carrot. The spice finishes like a spice cake with an understated sweetness. Spice grows and grows--a bit too much.

M: Smooth and creamy. Rich and slightly tart and crisp on the finish. Finishes sweet and juicy. Really easy drinking here. Wonderfully balanced and really mellow. Loses points for the pumpkin spice that builds too large as the beer slightly warms.

O: This beer has been sitting in my fridge for about 3 months. I'm Leary of pumpkin beers but I had heard good stuff about this one. After an actual good pumpkin beer experience with red hooks pumpkin porter I figured I'd give one last try. It's good. One of the best pumpkins I've had.. But I've had a lot of terrible pumpkin beers so the average is still low. Recommended if you want to try one last pumpkin beer before giving up altogether.

A: The beer is hazy dark orange-amber in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high dense off white head that slowly died down but never completely faded away, consistently leaving a thin head covering the surface.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of pumpkins in the nose along with some hints of sweetness and pumpkin pie spices.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but has stronger flavors across the board.
M: It feels medium-bodied and rather smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I liked this beer because the taste was all about the pumpkins and had a bit of sweetness to make things more palatable and some hints of spices to add complexity.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a tumbler.

A: Medium brown. Pours a 1 finger, foamy, white head. Settles slowly. Pervasive pockets of carbonation cling to the sides of the glass. Nothing much in terms of lacing.

S: Ridiculous amount of pumpkin, accentuated with nutmeg, cinnamon, and basil.

T: Pumpkin is dominant... sweetness is not. The fall spices, however, are prominently on display; enhancing the pumpkin. A sourdough malt character, and a little bit of a light hop bite.

M: Light body, spicy throughout. The spice sticks with you throughout the experience. Kind of steely lingering aftertaste.

D: Sip and enjoy. Can be session-ed, but worth spending a little time with.

Atmosphere is pretty good. Decent head, no real lacing. Nose is pumpkin-y and fall spicy. Full pumpkin and spice flavor, but not sweet. Probably a good thing, because if it was as sweet as the initial nose gave off; it would probably be a little too much. Anyway, well-balanced. Overall, this is a good quaff.
