On tap in Greenville SC..
Orange-brown with a pretty good head
A substantial amount of pumpkin pie spicing in both the aroma and the taste, but enough dark malts to show through.
Has a fairly good balance but a little too spicy, particularly the aroma. Eventually a good squash taste joins the cinnamon and nutmeg.

Rogue Farms' Pumpkin Patch Ale gets everything right that most pumpkin ales these days get wrong.

First, the smell. A fresh pour of Pumpkin Patch into a tulip glass hits the nose right away with the aroma of pumpkin pie, as if one was standing over a freshly made pie, using one's hand to waft the molecules toward one's face. There is more emphasis on the vegetal pumpkin as opposed to the spices usually associated with pumpkin beers (cinnamon, cloves, etc.). This is a good thing. Left to sit for 10-15 minutes, and as it warms, the spice notes grow more noticeable, but are never aggressive or overwhelming. The aromas offer a really pleasant preview of what is to come as you tip the glass back.

Now for the taste. True to the aromas, Pumpkin Patch hits the tongue with mellow but distinct flavors of vegetal pumpkin, followed by moderate elements of cinnamon and clove. Again, as with the aromas, the flavors are moderate and mellow and make for a really enjoyable drinking experience. The beer finishes with a slight sweetness, and goes down easy. The pumpkin flavor lingers for a long while after, smooth and pleasant.

For those who care about its look, it pours with a reddish-brown color, and nearly no head. For me, what matters most is how a beer smells and tastes. And it smells and tastes wonderful. Well done, Rogue Farms.

Best pumpkin beer there is. For me if i want a pumpkin beer i want it to taste like pumpkins. This company has their own pumpkin patch and they brew with their own pumpkins, can't get better than that. I had it in a tulip and drank it while carving pumpkins and watching football. The color is dark brown like you'd get in a good marzen Oktoberfest beer, not brown like Newcastle but Oktoberfest brown. It's Damn good, if it weren't $11 a bottle I'd buy it every year. It's a must try for everyone interested in a good pumpkin beer. Tastes like pumpkin mixed with Oktoberfest perfect for Halloween. It has hints of cinnamon and nutmeg that is so subtle it doesn't take away the delicious taste of pumpkin. This is what you want to taste in pumpkin beer. So glad I finally found the perfect pumpkin beer. Smells like pumpkins too.

I don't see any bottle date but at the bottom there is a number stating "1501300315"

Appearance: The body is a dark mahogany brown with very good transparency. The head is a creamy texture with an eggshell white color and a short stature. Not much head retention and no real lacing.

Aroma: There is a very light sulfur aroma intermixed with clove. The aroma feels very weak.

Taste: I get a very light bit of woody character mixed with some watered down cinnamon. Very light flavors.

Mouthfeel: The body is light. This beer doesn't need much of a body to carry the light flavors and aromas it provides but it still feels too light. It feels watered down.

Overall: If you are looking at a beer that hints towards pumpkin beer flavors but doesn't fully commit then this is your beer. If you are the type of person who wants your pumpkin beers to be a full-on experience then this will likely be a letdown. I wouldn't buy it again and I wouldn't recommend it. The beer is just too weak. If you really need to get a pumpkin beer and nothing else is around this is a drinkable and mildly enjoyable beer but the whole time you will probably be thinking about some other beer you wish you had.
