Poured 12oz bottle into snifter glass. 5% abv

Appearance- Deep goldenrod yellow, much like the color of honey. Fine bubbled white head with medium retention. Middle of the road in terms of clarity.

Smell- Crackers, grains, hints of honey

Taste- Plenty of grain, giving the malt base plenty of depth. Dry, crackery bready flavors picks up sweetness from ample notes of honey. Honey blends well with the heavy grain flavor. Ends slightly bitter with the lingering of honey.

Mouthfeel- Medium light in body with active carbonation.

Overall- Well balanced, not overly sweet either. Indicative of natural ingredients, a point elaborated on in the label and 6 pack holder. Well done to suit the kolsch style, and a nice twist with the honey addition. I'll call this one well crafted.

This was an interesting take on a kolsch, if a bit more intense than most. The honey isn't overpowering, but adds a nice subtle touch of sweetness without being sticky or dominating the palate. You don't smell it much, but it's there. Always up for a Rogue experimental beer.

Even though I'm still something of a Rogue fanboy/apologist, I still haven't tried their newest year-round offering. Maybe it's because I'm still bitter that they took their Honey Cream Ale off the market like a decade ago. Maybe it's because even though I understand their new marketing from like a PR standpoint (you got appeal to the hippies), I just don't find it all that appealing. But whatever.

This pours hazy golden with a wispy white head. Smells like a straightforward kolsh, yeasty with some light spice, and nodes of hay.

Tastes surprisingly complex and assertive. Takes a few sips to get used to. Big hay and light flowers up front, honey sweetness in the back, lingering nodes of grass and weeds. Very crisp, sharp, and refreshing.

Its got a light flavor, so it's going to lose some points with the larger craft beer community, but this is actually quite wonderfully brewed.

Enjoyed from the 22 oz bomber in a snifter. This crushable Kolsch pours a
lightly chill hazed yellow tinged light amber with a nice head of white foam that
subsides to a thick ring, thin pool, and showcases some nice light lacing. Nose of
rich sweet honey, light floral notes, subtle grain notes, and herbal as well as floral
hop notes. Flavors showcase some of the best of the style I have ever had with
rich sweet clover honey awash in light grain and subtle breaded notes and finishing
with a light herbal hop flavor. Very nice mouth feel; medium light body, medium high
carbonation, and a honey tinged lightly dry finish.

Overall, one of the best if not the best of this style I have ever had. Fantastic!

Cheers to Rogue and their busy little bees!

Pours a clear straw yellow. Honey, wheat, & popcorn. Lots of honey and wheat without to much sweetness with some dry biscuit flavor. Medium bodied, very clean and crisp.

Adding almost anything besides honey to a kolsch is blasphemous but honey is ok!

It looks like the somewhat flat beer it is, but it deserves the odd presentation as the taste is out there too. It shows signs of the honey somewhere but it has this big balanced beer taste under that. It is a very pleasant beer, but I am afraid it might not be travelling well in the bottles. Cans would be nice for this.

Recommended for when you are tired of ales.

Edit, one year later (7/7/2018)-Yup, better in cans.
