Appearance - Pours a dark auburn brown with a khaki colored 2 finger head. Fair retention, leaving a thin film of suds across the surface. Small, spotty lacing with fair stick.

Smell - Alcohol and fruity esters, blackberry and a touch of oak.

Taste - A lot lighter than expected; light to moderate notes of woody oak, blackberry and a tinge of booze. Flavors open up a bit more as it warms. Distant notes of chocolate.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body, with low carbonation. Goes down with nice smoothness. Gets a touch thicker as it warms.

Overall - I had different expectations for this one, but it just wasn't quite there. I expected a thicker, juicier beer. Instead, a brew on the lighter side, both in flavor and body. Good balance. Decent, but for the money spent I wouldn't opt for it again.

Big thank you to Mom and Dad for bringing this back from the brewery.

Appearance. Pours a deep brown with a thin, pale tan head.

Smell. Tangy blackberries, a bit of caramel and smooth malt.

Taste. Blackberries and caramel, a touch of molasses, a bit of booze and some nice fresh wood especially in the earthy bitter finish.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body, low carbonation.

Overall. Pleasant beer with nice berry flavour but a little bitter in the finish.

Dark reddish amber in the Westons Cider monic. Nice foam adds to the attractive appearance. Quite sudsy on the tongue. Sharpish and lively sensation. Great fruity aroma.

Rich malty taste heated up with alcohol. On top of that is the blackberry flavor, which is the best I've had in a beer. Slightly syrupy, but the tart taste and bitter hoppiness makes it all even out in the balance. Rather sweet and intensely fruity, like blackberries cooked with some sugar. Some bitter hops with that woody, seedy, tannic taste to finish.

Strong flavors with a powerful punch, yet totally sippable, like a drier kind of liqueur. From the caged and corked Belgian bottle purchased at Rogue Farms in Independence, Oregon.
