Discreet looking restaurant in the Hackeschen Markt area. Some tables outside, and the inside is much bigger than the exterior would appear. Large upstairs and a good sized downstairs. The waitstaff is dressed in Bavarian outfits, are friendly, helpful, and spoke English well. They did slightly mess up my order, and brought me the wrong sized beer. All the Weihenstephaner beers are available in their proper glassware. The food was pretty good and standard German food. It wasn't amazing, but it was pretty tasty. The prices were a little high, especially for the food, but it wasn't too bad.

This seems like a bit of a touristy place with decent food and good beer, but a little pricey. If you are just looking for a place to eat, there are probably better places, but there are also worse places. Of course the beer is good, but Weihenstephaner isn't exactly the hardest beer to find (some of the selections are a bit more difficult though).

Visited on a Saturday afternoon in June. Raining on and off and occasionally cold to boot. Three total waiters working the joint inside and out, and it was fairly full.

Vibe: I got a brief look at the inside where most of the tables were reserved or currently occupied. Nice and bright, with plenty of wood accents. Outside, Tents with IR heaters on under them, and a mostly continous roof of tents to keep the rain out. The tables and chairs were metal and wood, with seats and table tops being made of wood and the rest of the chair/table being made out of blackened steel.

Quality: This criteria, in this case, is closely related to the selection rating, in that this place only served its beers. I am of the opinion that most of what Weihenstephaner puts out is pretty good, and so quality is good as well.

Service: Given how busy this place was inside and outside of the restaurants, more than 3 total waiters/waitresses would have made sense. The waitress looked harried and the waiter who saw me was busy most of the time - it took awhile to get his attention that I was going to seat myself and likewise, getting the order and the bills took awhile. Again, if there were more waiters I suspect this wouldn't have been an issue since the waiters were friendly enough. The waitress was the only one who because she was running hither and yon a lot, wasn't the most friendly in dealing with me.

Selection: Every beer in the Weihenstephaner linup is here. That should be enough for any german beer fan who wants to sample the full range the brewer has to offer.

Food: The menu looked pretty good and I just had a light late lunch of a open faced cheese sandwich, which went well with beer. Prices were very reasonable (bottled water, 0.5l of beer, sandwich - all for under 20 Euros.

Huge terrace area out front, too wet and cold on our visit (an evening in April 2011).

Wooden floor on entering, the bar is a fair distance in front of you. To the left are tables, the wall to your right has a brightly lite display cabinate with beers, glasses, steins and certificates on show. We hooked up to a tall table with stools next to it.

Modern decor with a rustic touch, dark wood stools, scrubbed lightwood tables, modern chandiller with mood lighting. Cooler Keller bar (in temp amd ambiance) below. Table service of course, attentive and pleasant. We had two beers each and they were in good order and served as you'd expect in the correct glasses. I seem to think they only sell their own beers, not that's a bad thing.

A classy joint, fairly quiet on our visit, but it is in a happening area and must get very busy at times. Food looked good, but we had none.

Visited on the 26/09/2010.

First stop on our Berlin/Munchen Oktoberfest Week

Easy to find coming out of Hakescher Markt S Bahn station.

Establishment is over two floors, top floor is all sanded wood floors and pine tables and the beer dispensing areas. The lower floor has a cellar feel with stone brick walls and alcoves.

We sat downstairs where tables ran the length of the long room on either side.

Very busy downstairs as it was the day of the Berlin marathon, lots of french and italians celebrating. So the vibe was nice and sociable.

Tried a good range of beers - Festbier( obviously available during the season), Dunkel, Pilsner and Vitus. All served in top condition as expected.

Service was slow to be honest, perhaps they didnt expect so many people on a Sunday night, but the marathon crowd overworked them, constantly calling out for schnapps!

Full range of Weihenstephan beer available so no complaints!

Had the schweinebraten with dumplings which was very tasty and went well with the Festbier and dunkel.

Overall a nice slice of Bavaria in Berlin, but you could sense it wasnt the real thing! Shame about the service but i cant hold that against them. A nice oppurtunity to sample Weihenstephan beers in an easily accessible location!

A great selection of only this type of beer. We tried the dunken, hefeweisen and the dunkel hefeweissen. All were very good and there were four of five other selections as well. The place was on a square that featured a number of other places but this was clearly the best. Food was good. Sausages, meats and other typical german fare. The service was terrible, as it has been during the entire trip to berlin.

In a great section of town, called the Mitte and is a good stop while shopping, going to museums or just seeing the sights. I would highly recommend this place,

Maybe it was the timing of the visit... This was a pretty cool place but Berlin is bustling with tourists, and although it is cool to see the street performers in the Markt and all the people walking by, i still preferred when I had Berlin all to myself.

The prices are same all year around, i am sure. This place is in a prime tourist location, and so they price accordingly.

Menu was small, but they had good Bavarian standards. They also have all (i presume) Weihenstephaner beers on tap. Nice.

they were very busy, but service was too slow. I am a very thirsty man...

Building is great. and they even seem to have a secret bar in the basement, past the bathrooms.

Anyway, its worth a visit. Just don't make it first on your list of beer stops in Berlin.

Right in Hackesher Markt, take a right out of the train station and you'll see the sign. Big blue Weihenstephaner sign outside. Strange decor upstairs. Well lit, but with all the moulding and separate rooms it's like you're in the dean's house or something. Downstairs is way cooler - an old cellar with dark wood and candles.

Beer selection is nice. There were 6 brews available when I went. Good to see so many options of Weihenstephaner available, each served in it's own glass. The beer is of course superb.

Good service too, the waitress fought with her english and told me all about the building - used to be a warehouse, among other things.

All in all a nice place, even if a little weird in structure.
