Andechs Wirt Haus is a large restaurant in a large hotel on the edge of the busy shopping district in Nuremberg. Although there is no bar, there are several small tables in the front. In the rear are many large tables in the German style, with an American touch: alcoves and nooks. They have 4 Andechs products on tap, and on a Friday afternoon were quite busy. The one bartender was waiting tables, serving, busing tables, and doing the dishes. A big crowd, but only one person was eating, everyone else was there for the beer

Andechs seem to opening up bars in a few major German cities, this one is inside the deutscher-kaiser-hotel.

We sat outside during the day and ate some lovelly food, I had the days special which was a
Chicken Cordon Bleu, my wife had some fish, both washed down with well presented and tasty beers.

In the evening we entered the dark brown, wooded interior, scrubbed tables, wooden floor, chandaliers and very impressive all round. It gets more 'churchy' as you go futher in, there is also a small balcony inside. A modern tubular ventilation system sits uncomfortably on the ceiling, but it doesn't ruin the place completely.

All the beers we had were in excellent shape, the staff were pleasant and swift to serve us.

Bar within the Hotel Deutscher Kaiser Hotel, just 5 mins walk from main station through Konigstor entrance, and just before you get to Barfusser Beer Hall. Normally 5 excellent Andechs beers on tap - the Hefe Weiss being especially good. Seating inside with many tables and some alcoves, and also some tables outside in fine weather. The beer hall is a bit "artificial" but works well enough, though not much of an atmosphere on the three evenings we went. But definately worth visiting for the Andechs beers!

Beer price around €2.80 for half a litre in Sept 2006.

This used to be called Der Andechser, but this year when I noticed it had been changed to the Andechs Wirtshaus. My waitress told me that this establishment is owned by the same folks who own the Barfuesser (across the street). I'd rather come here.

I was here on a Wednesday afternoon about 2 pm (I had arrived in Nurnberg about 10 AM), so the place was basically empty. I also was really jet-lagged, so only had a few brews. They had on tap the Spezial Hell, the Dunkel, the Weissbier, the Dunkel Weissbier, the Doppelbock Dunkel and a radler. The also had bottles of most of these for sale at Euro 1.50 each. I had a small Hell and the Dunkel lager and the Dunkel lager was probably the best I have ever had.

I needed something to eat, but didn't want a lot. They let me order the Children's schnitzel plate...it wasn't all that.

I would definitely come here for the beers, they were really good and fresh.
