Stopped in a nice warm day. They had the doors wide open to take in the day. Iliana provided friendly service. They have about 40 beers on tap and one cask, which I tried, Speakeasy Double Daddy IPA. I think the cask brought out the best of this beer. Also had a Single Cut from Queens and Two Brothers from WI. The keg just kicked on the Hill Farmstead offering. Iliana advised they get some Maine Beer Co from time to time. I would rate this place higher except for the food. The lunch special is any draft and food selection for $13. Sounded like a great deal but the chicken sliders were laughable. They did come with some fresh cut fries that were delicious. Overall it was a nice place and I will be back

Good draft list. Ok bottle list. Lots of local stuff. Food is good, but limited. Bartenders are stellar, super nice, and attentive!

I stopped in for a pint and stayed for a 2nd. Knowledgable bartender talked about local beer. Good selection ontap. Worth the visit.

A decent, if somewhat tiny, bar that my girlfriend and I popped into while spending an evening in Manhattan, mostly due to their having Einstok beers on tap.
The atmosphere was fine, with dim lighting, standard pub furnishings, and the like, as opposed to where one might have expected bearskins, trestle tables, and axes on the walls, per the name. There were a handful of patrons supplying plenty of screaming and pounding on tables, however, even on a relatively non-crowded Sunday night. The service was all right, if a bit unknowledgeable regarding the contents of their own tap list. We did not try any food.
The tap list seemed well put together, and featured good imports, a decent assortment of good beers from around the country, and a fair chunk of local and regional beers. The beer was served with all the proper beer geek boxes checked - glassware, temperature, pour, and so forth.
Might return, if anyone could ever convince me to get anywhere near Manhattan or NYC in general ever again. I'd probably turn down a job offering a high six figure salary if it came with the stipulation that I'd have to move there.

This is my kinda place. I was in during the day on the weekend. Soccer on the tube, a great draft list, decorated by breweriana. I had a few beers, standard NYC pricing. Food menu looked great for beer drinking, though I didn't eat. Great selection of local (NY/Northeast) and distro craft beers alike. A few nitro taps. Bartenders were cool, I had some trouble deciding and was given some tiny pours to help decide. Small bottle list- mostly imports and Belgians, but more than enough drafts to sway my palate. An easy (8-10 block) walk from Carnegie Hall/Central Park area where I was staying. If I was staying nearby, I'd definitely go there again when in town.

A diamond in the rough is probably the best way to describe it. Loads of options on tap at any given point in time and the food is pretty good as well. TV screens around the space are a nice touch as well.
Look out for some rare kegs that drop without much pomp and circumstance - just the way locals like me like it. It can get a bit loud at times, especially around happy hour.
