A 500ml bottle with a BB of May 2012, so it's a little out of date. Picked up while I was visiting a friend down South. The label describes it as a pale brown ale that is specially brewed to support the Battle of Britain Locomotive Society (the owners of Squadron 92).

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A clear brownish-amber hue with plentiful carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes before settling as a surface layer. Aroma of caramel malt with notes of stewed hops and faint hints of biscuit and yeast esters. Dry and pretty standard.

Tastes of caramel malt with a dry, bitter finish. Notes of stewed hops and fruity ale yeast. A stale cardboard note in the background; bordering on harsh. Some bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with decent body. Rather astringent. Aftertaste of dry stewed hops and a hint of cardboard.

OK - a fairly standard bitter. Looks nice, but no aromatic hops or bottle conditioning to add depth to the aroma/flavour. Drinkable but pretty run-of-the-mill. One for trainspotters.
