Hazy copper color with a surprisingly voluminous head and sticky lacing left behind.

Biscuity and caramel malt aromas. Faint floral hop character and not much else for aroma.

Taste is maltier upfront than an APA should be. Pale malts provide some sweetness and bread-like qualities. Surprisingly lacking a notable hop flavor and bitterness. Not that I expect a hop bomb but a pale ale should have at least some hop profile. What little there is in this one has a bit of a grassy and floral character.

Mouthfeel is light but smooth and refreshing. Overall, this beer is lacking... in flavor that is. Nothing bad (no off flavors) about it but overall it is rather bland compared to many other APA's.

Tried it just for the oddity of its name alone. Can't say it was very good though. Basically just bland nothingness. Nothing really stands out as a noticeable flavor profile. Not to mention I look at this in complete bewilderment as to what style it wants to be; pale ale....farmhouse ale..... yet all malt??? What?!?!

And don't even get me started on the Ginger that the label advertises as being part of the brew. It is nonexistent as well.

Inoffensive. Thin on the palate. Mild aroma of ginger. Dubious lace. Wan carbonation. Gosh darn cute label.

Poured from a can, purchases this sixer at trader Joe's for 7.99.

Very little head on this beer, and almost no lacing. The beer itself is a fairly hazing golden amber color. I expected this beer to be much clearer than it is, perhaps unfiltered? Regardless, I like it!

The nose is fairly subdued, light piney hop notes, that quickly fade to a WONDERFUL malty notes, not bready per see, almost candied fruit? This is light though and only became apparent after the beer warmed up some.

The taste is somewhat of a let down after a surprisingly subtle nose. This beer may be slightly over-carbonated, I get a fairly stong metallic taste and a fairly bitter flavor. The beer leaves a tangy metallic, over-carbonated aftertaste.

Overall, this beer is not bad. It is a well-priced and approachable sixer, a little over-bitter for my taste and perhaps metallic, but the nose is truly sublime.

I had been wanting to try this beer for a while. Mostly because its called "porkslap" but also because I heard a few people say its good. I had it in a can at a party (It was free so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try it out). The consensus? I'll put it this way: It tastes like what you would expect from a beer named "porkslap". Maybe that's a bit over exaggerated; but it just wasn't enjoyable by any means. The hop flavor: disappointing; the smell: kinda like old beer; BUT it does go down smoothly. so, if you want to down a couple beers just to down a couple of beers, go for it. But honestly, if you actually want to drink good beer, you're not going to find it here.

Even though I am not the biggest pale ale fan, I do enjoy this beer. Tastes like a cross between a pale ale and a Belgian white. Light orange in color and moderately cloudy. Strong and unique in flavor this beer is a must try for the ale connoisseur.

Poured from the two pig can to a pint glass.

A- Dark murky orange with a huge white head.

S- Rich malts, sweet caramel.

T- Heavy malt blast with a sugary caramel balance and a sweet finish.

M- Light bodied, crisp, easy to drink.

O- Well, since im reviewing a "pale ale" i have to judge it as so...It's not a terrible beer overall but it is a terrible example of a pale ale imo. To each their own i suppose.

had a couple of new cans from butternuts after work. really solid on both accounts and this was the second of the two. poured cold into a pint this one was consumed on 10/11/2010.

the pour was a nice medium to light amber color with a thick head of white that sat on top throughout the entire session, nice lacing down the glass.

aroma is light, nice little notes of citrus, hints of apple, pears, light grasses and a smooth, even flavor or light fruity yeast. as i take the first sip i get the clean, crisp flavor right off the bat. really nicely done. clean and light hops, a good strain of yeast and very nice carbonation all lead to a solid pale.

overall nicely done. i liked the hefe better, but this was very, very well done.

I poured this funny looking beer into my tumbler at 45 degrees. The beer was cloudy but poured an explosion of a head into my glass. It was awesome .The beer had really good lacing. The beer was really good but I really could not nail down what it tasted like other than beer. I liked it and would buy again and I guess that is what counts in the end.

Poured into a pint glass, lightly hazy red-brown in color with minimal head. Earthy aromas mixed with caramel malt and some cinnamon and nutmeg. Medium bodied, with roasted malt flavors that create a nice bite and combine well with the cinnamon and nutmeg flavors. There is enough going on with the interplay of roasted malts and sweet spice that this would be an interesting session beer, particularly as the weather gets cooler.

12oz can into a shaker pint.

A - Amber colored beer with a thin lace of white head.

S - Toasty, nutty malts, perhaps a little mild hoppy earthiness, but not much discernable hop aroma.

T - Limp and lifeless. Bready and earthy malt with coarse, grainy astringency. Very low level of herbal hop bitterness.

M - Subtle carbonation, light body.

D - I'm sure there's a time and place for this beer, but it's not very exciting and I can't see myself going out of my way to get it.

Served In a can, this pale ale has rich caramel malt flavors, with a solid hop earthy bitterness. Good mouthfeel and carbonation. Very good drinkability, several of these in a row would be great. I would get this again. The low alcohol and can make this a great beer for outdoor activities.

A: thin head, brownish orange, only moderate carbonation; lacing was ok
S: light, malty aroma
T: orange, malty, sweet, lightly hopped pale ale; butternut squash?; alcohol not noticeable; a decent session beer
M: a bit buttery

benign, unremarkable

A - Butterscotch yellow. Lots of carbonation bubbling to the top. Short, off-white head.

S - A little orange candy smell. There's a slight vinegar smell, but it's nice. It's like a hint of an open salt 'n vinegar bags of chips. Just a hint though. Also, some nice floral hops notes.

T - Very balanced. Nice malty flavor with a good hoppy balance. A nice pale ale with a bit of orange tootsie roll flavor. Not terribly complex, but that's not a bad thing.

M - it's fine. Not thin, smooth enough.

O - a very good pale ale. It's above average and a nice session beer. The sweetness on the aftertaste may become a little cloying, but it's a solid beer.
