With a name like Porkslap, I was thinking that this beer was brewed with ham hocks, or bacon, or anything pig related. Instead, this is a pale ale brewed with ginger. I like ginger. Out of a 12 ounce can, on to the beer:

It look muddy orange colored with a murky body while on top sits a two finger's thickness of foam. The head is showing good retention and sturdiness thus far. The aroma does not. It smells bland with a note of esters and husk. I'm not getting ginger initially, but it has another opportunity to show itself. With time, the ginger makes a small step forward in the aroma.

The taste is much closer to English-styled than American-styled. It does have a decent overall flavor, ginger or not. Controlled diacetyl hits fist, then a spark of ginger cuts through the diacetyl. The beer does have some edges which could be smoothed (notes of husk, a sting of bitterness among them). The beer has a light, but somewhat creamy body, with modest carbonation and a sting of spice.

Porkslap is easy drinking ale. Not wildly impressive, but easy drinking.

The current average rating seems super low for this magnificently unique brew, brahs.

Poured into tulip glass. One finger steady head not dissipating. Light yellow Orange hazy color. Smell is spice and hops, grassy almost like hay or a farm smell. Did not know it was ginger like the beer advertises. Taste is kind of dry and hoppy. The ginger and spices are great and I buy this whenever I have a chance one of my favorite beers

Edit. Sad to say. The beer after not having in several years, is overly sweet brown sugar. Ginger is not spicy as I remember. Sorry butternuts but I'd like to see fresher
