A 375ml bottle with a best before date of 15th June 2027. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.

Appearance: A clear copper colour with a two finger white head that had decent retention and left some nice lacing.

Aroma: Light tartness, lychee, white grape, light funk and oak.

Taste: Lightly sour, light lychee, grape, funk and oak.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: This was nice. Lychee definitely could be stronger as I’m finding quite a few elderflower beers with stronger lychee flavours, however aside from the fruit, this was one of the more balanced Spontan beers in the lineup.

Spontan Lychee was an interesting Lambik, tart and with lychee flavor.

Look: semi clear golden with a half inch white head

Aroma: yeast, lychee, lemon

Taste: The flavor is biscuits, yeast, a little bit brett funk, Lychee, lemon and woody oak, its quite tart.

Feel: light to medium body

stoked to find this one on tap at mikkeller san francisco, i was worried i had missed this one back when these were coming around quite a bit more regularly than they appear to be these days. this one is subtle, and whether its a product of its age or a result of lychee fruit just being sort of mild, i think it lets the base beer show through a little more than some of the more heavily fruited beers in this series. there is a ton of pucker and wood in the nose, floral white wine, light vanilla, raisin, and rock candy, kind of weird to the senses, and the lychee seems to have little more than a light sort of jasmine-esque sweetness to it. the flavor is lovely though, lambic wood and funk throughout, some solid malt character coming through, the aged hop element working well with the lychee, and then a whole burst of acidity to finish it, cutting through any established sweetness, but staying delicate with the flowery aspect persisting. the lychee is there, almost a little nutty and fleshy at times, but for me its well behind the lambic yeasty funk. better carbonation than a lot of these have too, but that just may be the draft aspect. fun stuff, there are just a few more in this series out there i need to track down now...

Pours a clear light golden color with minimal head. Grainy, toasted oak aroma. Lychee is also prominent. Sulfuric; Hanssens-like. Taste is what could be expected in a Lychee-fruited 'Lambic' - bitter and dry, with each overcoming the slight acidity on the front end. Overall, decent, but the other Spontan variants I've had have been better, IMO.
