Over the top in bitterness. Not drinkable as it. We cut it with 40% Old Stock Ale and made it delicious! Took away all the bitterness but left all the flavor.

Black textured appearance, foamy tan head, good retention and lacing, and that’s where it stops. Boozy nose which got my attention, but the flavor profile is bitter, almost sour, rough whiskey. Not worth going much further.

I feel sorry for this beer and more sorry I spent money on it. I still love Mikkeller though. Can’t drink, used it in my Gumbo.

This one pours a very dark black, with a surprisingly big one finger head, and a bit of lacing.
This smells disastrous, fusel alcohol just stings the nostrils, with intense charred oak, and burnt malt.
This is absolutely atrocious, one of the worst beers I've ever had. Up front is intense grainy alcohol, burnt and astringent. This astringency continues through the finish, ashy and chemical-like, and it just doesn't go away. I couldn't get the bitter taste of this beer out of my mouth no matter how much water I drank. I absolutely hated this beer. There is nothing redeeming about it. Usually with disastrous beers like this, I can tell there's something good underneath the flaws. I can't find a single good redeeming quality about this beer. It is 100% flawed.
This is medium bodied, with a long and horrid bitter finish. It's got a higher level of carbonation than I'd expect for 17.1%.
This is disgusting. Mikkeller should be ashamed to have the gall to release this. One of the worst beers I've ever had.

12.7 fl oz. bottle, no bottled on date. 17.12% abv listed. Mikkeller Blackest Bourbon Aged Stout - "Imperial stout matured in 10 Bourbon Whiskey barrels". Brewed & bottled by Mikkeller at De Proef Brouwerij.
Poured into a Big Eddy snifter glass.
A - The pour is dark, but not opaque. A big rich dense creamy chocolate head forms fast and furiously. The body is black, but not the blackest beer I've ever see, nor the thickest or sludgiest. The head is the best part - rich, dense, & creamy, and leaves tons of sticky webbed lacing.
S - Waft of booze hits me in the face immediately upon uncapping the bottle. Maybe some very minor notes of chocolate & cream, but mostly hot alcohol booze. No overt notes of bourbon or whiskey, however. Has a somewhat medicinal / band-aid sort of smell going on to it also.
T - Unrelenting bitterness, burnt / char, and alcohol heat. This thing is undrinkably bitter. Huge huge huge booze / alcohol, but no overt flavors of bourbon or whiskey.
M - The feel is fluid & creamy to start, but the god awful relenting bitterness at the end makes this beer borderline undrinkable.
Overall, not quite undrinkable, but it is damn close, especially for the high end price tag. Not recommended buying or drinking, and definitely not recommended that they brew this again. Avoid.

375 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Black with an ample khaki head. Smells boozy as hell. Huge alcohol, but no bourbon. Light chocolate behind the alcohol. Taste is all alcohol up front. Dark chocolate, coffee, and then burnt flavors. Acrid and bitter. Unpleasantly burnt and boozy. Undrinkable, even in small quantities.
