Poured into a snifter it has a black body with a slight beige off white cappacino foam head of a quarter inch. Smell of coffee, citrus, lemon, chocolate, grass, earth, roasted malt, and some slight vanilla. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, lots of grassy hops, citrus, and a good amount of coffee especially at the end. Mouth feel is full as well as body with a moderate carbonation. A very good black ipa with the coffee adding to the mouth feel and overall flavor greatly.

330ml bottle - a coffee-infused Cascadian Dark Ale, by any other name...

This beer pours a solid black, with loose basal cola edges, and a teeming tower of puffy, frothy, and chunky brown head, which leaves some receding mountain top snow pack lace around the glass as it very slowly abates.

It smells of cafe-au-lait, further fresh black coffee notes, gritty and grainy roasted caramel malt, nutty dark chocolate, muddled citrus rind, and some tame leafy, herbal, and perfumed floral green hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy caramel malt, biscuity toffee, some free-range ashiness, bittersweet cocoa powder, rather sugared-up coffee, still difficult to pin down citrus peel, and more burgeoning leafy, herbal, and piney hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly robust in its sharply-honed frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and mostly smooth, just a wee alcohol astringency sniffing about at the outer gates. It finishes off-dry, the cocoa, caramel, and milky coffee landing just about so.

Overall, this is a pleasantly rendered Americanized, er, ABA, with the guest coffee doing well to ingratiate itself to we java agnostics. Slick, easy to drink, and nice and warming, that north of 18-proof alcohol measure barely making itself overtly known, but it soon will, it soon will.

L - black with a wonderful beige head

S - citrus, mango, coffee

T - really really great coffee, grapefruit but definitely less fruity than in the smell, nuts, grass

F - Good carbonation

O - A great beer, I really like this kind of beer mixing tropical flavors and coffee, it bringsa lot of complexity. I prefer To Ol Black Malts and Body Salts in this style but this one is great too!

On bottle (0.33l) at Il Pretesto in Bologna. Pours black with plenty of foam. Smells like coffee and dark chocolate, reminding of a good Imperial Stout. Taste is chocolate and coffee at first, with notes of high alcohol, but very hoppy at the end.

Black color with a dense mocha head. Aroma is mostly hoppy with earthy, grassy notes. Also a bit of coffee and roasted malts. Taste is also hoppy, fresh and grassy but also has intense roasted notes. Starts malty and sweet but gets quite bitter on the finish and lingers in the aftertaste with coffee and hops. Quite heavy and smooth body. Really nice one, a style of beer I enjoy quite much.

An ok head, focuses on coffee profile a bit in starting taste than a bittering from the hops that can linger like a coffee bitter. Not bad over all hid the ABV pretty good

Pitch black, creamy pour and a very fine, tan-coloured head. Smells like freshly brewed coffee, dark cherries, sour milk, dark chocolate. The taste follows the same note, with (milk?) coffee up front, followed by dark chocolate, roasted malts, a bit of cocoa and some resinous hops in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a nice carbonation level that gives this beer a very fresh feeling. A well made black IPA.

330ml bottle. BB 28/04/2016. Poured into tulip.

A: black. Poured with nice head and retention.
S: hops. Nutty. Roasted coffee. Somewhat smokey.
T: chocolate, somewhat sweet, herbs, moderate hoppy and bitterness. Dry finish.
M: Full bodied. Creamy.
O: Insanely well balanced black IPA, yet it has all of the flavors the style supposed to be.
