375 mL bottle. Hazy deep orange. No head. Smells of passionfruit, oak, light sweet malt, and a tinge of citrus. Tastes intensely sour right up front. Passionfruit, then a little vinegar sourness. Oak. Sourness really takes over in the back end until it's all passionfruit sourness. Medium body. It's intense. Short of undrinkably sour, but close.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 8/20/2025. Pours fairly crystal clear golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big sour lemon, lime, green apple, passion fruit, mango, peach, pineapple, white grape, hay, straw, musty funk, light leather, wheat, cracker, and yeast/oak earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, passion fruit, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big sour lemon, lime, green apple, passion fruit, mango, peach, pineapple, white grape, hay, straw, musty funk, light leather, wheat, cracker, and yeast/oak earthiness. Good amount of fruity/acidic sourness and light yeast/tannic oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of sour lemon, lime, green apple, passion fruit, mango, peach, pineapple, white grape, hay, straw, musty funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, passion fruit, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/sourness balance, and no astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from acidity/sourness; minimally puckering. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, acidic, fairly creamy/grainy, and lightly tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.7%. Overall this is an incredible fruit Lambic style! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, passion fruit, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, despite the strong sourness/acidity. A really amazing offering.

Served mid-July. Really an excellent fruit lambic- very, very sour compared to some of the more easily available lambics out there. The passion fruit worked really well in this one, and lent a tropical take on the style. Very refreshing and exceedingly drinkable, despite the big sourness and high ABV. Highly recommended.

Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is really fruity and tropical, also a bit funky. Taste is sour and really fruity with passion fruit, peach, mango and other tropical fruits. Body is light and dry with crisp carbonation. This is one of my favorites of the series so far. Really fruity and refreshing.

Pours hazy yellow-orange with a nice fully white head that stuck around for the duration. Aroma was surprisingly funky (definitely has that Lambic thing going on). The passion fruit was pretty mellow, but you could still tell that the beer was fruited without question. I was impressed by this brew, and I've had plenty of lambics from all of the big belgian breweries. Wish I would have grabbed more from this series.

I picked up a bottle of Mikkeller's Spontanpassionfruit for $13.49 at The Lager Mill. After having the sour cherry version I'm interested to see how the passion fruit version turns out, so lets see how it goes. 2015 Vintage. Poured from a 375ml brown bottle into a teku.

A- The label art looks nice and it goes with the name, it's a little eye catching. It poured a nice amber orange color which took on more of an orange color when held to the light with a little over half a fingers of bubbly slightly off white head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left a little bit of spotty lacing behind. This is a good looking beer, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with a big fruity aroma being the first to show up and it imparts a nice tropical fruit aroma with the passion fruit being noticeable and there's also a lemon like aroma. Up next comes the funky yeast which impart a typical wet straw and light horse blanket like aroma and it's followed by the malts which impart a doughy, bready and pale malt like aroma. This beer has a goo aroma, I like it.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the fruits still being the first to show and they impart that same tropical fruit aroma with the passion fruit still being noticeable along with the lemon. Up next comes the funky yeast which imparts the same aspects that it did in the aroma, but this time it's a little lighter and it's followed by the malts which impart the same doughy, bready and pale malt aspects, but this time they are little lighter than they were in the aroma. On the finish there's a higher amount of sourness that lingers a little into the aftertaste along with some lemon and tropical fruit flavors showing up. This is a good tasting beer, I wish the passion fruit flavors popped a little more, but it's still a good tasting beer.

M- A little smooth, slightly crisp, a little acidic, medium bodied with a lower amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is nice, but I wish it was smoother with more carbonation.

Overall I thought this was a good beer and good example of the style, it's a pretty damn sour beer and all the flavors seem to work well together. This beer had ok drinkability, the high sourness would prevent me from drinking more than one glass. What I like the most about this beer is the taste, it's good and it tastes like a sour candy. What I like the least about this beer was that the passion fruit flavor didn't pop out a little more. I might buy this beer again and I wouldn't turn one down. I would recommend trying it if you like fruity sours that are very sour. All in all I was happy with this beer, it was just a little rough around edges, but other than that it was good and I enjoyed it. It's not a favorite Mikkeller beer and it's above average for style. Good job guys, this is a tasty sour.

Gorgeous in appearance, a deep orange and golden yellow color with minimal foam that sits on the edge of the glass, but crystal clear and champagne-like bubbliness.

Straight up passionfruit aroma with subtle lactic acidity and other citrus and tropical notes apparent. A subtle bretty must.

Having so many fruited sours, I've come to realize most of the time the fruit is just too overpowered by a heavy hand of enamel ripping lactic acidity, but the passionfruit addition really stands out above all else in this beer. There is certainly an acidity that accompanies this, but overall is toned down compared to many others I've had and a subtle but noticeable bretty, musty funk adds some more complexity for balance.

Light-bodied, high carbonation, crisp, tropical, very refreshing.

Overall, hands down the best offering in this series. Marvelous balance and the passionfruit shines through making this a perfectly refreshing and tropical brew.
