Almost clear dark red color with brownish head. Aroma has nice raspberry, dried plums and dark cherries, burnt sugar on the finish. Taste starts tart and fruity with nice raspberry and other dried fruits, some roasty bitterness on the finish. Full bodied, soft carbonation. Overall it's a really well made beer with all the flavors integrated very well.

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep purple that may as well be black topped by a finger of dense light tan head that fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass
S: Smells of juicy raspberries and some brandy barrel notes
T: Taste is juicy raspberries, toffee, dark fruits, and some really nice brandy barrel character. Slightly noticeable alcohol on the palate but the raspberry really shines on this one. Swallow is more raspberries, toffee, brandy barrel and lingering alcohol.
M: This beer has a very middle of the road mouthfeel that is a little slick and sticky with soft carbonation that is adequate for the style. This beer has a slightly drying finish from the ABV.
O: Holy cow is this one good. I wish the alcohol was dialed back a little but the flavors are pretty great. I also wish the raspberry played a little more of a supporting role instead of being so forward on the palate. Overall though this one is delicious. One of the folks where I shop suggested that this one could be paired with a slice of cheesecake and that would be absolutely divine.

Overpoweringly sweet at first, which keeps it from being a better beer, but once your palate adapts to the sugar bomb it's a pleasant dessert beer (or beer as dessert) - like a quad with two shots of Chambourd thrown in. Not the finest experiment from the mad scientists at Mikkeller but enjoyable if you can tolerate a very sweet beer.
