Poured from a 12 oz can,into a Funky Buddha snifter.Canned on 11/18/16.

Thick frothy dark khaki colored head with moderate retention and sticky lacing.Jet black colored body with no light showing through the glass.Light to medium carbonation.

The palate follows the nose with dark roasted coffee, earthy and toasted malts, and dark chocolate up front and in the middle, with some faint citrus and floral hops on the back end to balance it out.p

On the nose I get dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, earthy and toasted malts, toffee, and caramel notes. Some floral and citrus hop notes balancing as well.

The mouth feel is medium heavy with a sticky texture and moderate amount of oxidation on the tongue.

This is a very nice stout. Not my favorite version of the style but a good contender.I would drink this again, and recommend.

Poured almost pitch black with a fine tan head that quickly receded. The aroma is dark malt and coffee. The flavor was very bland other than the coffee. Nice thick feel but overall disappointed with this one especially considering the price point.

Poured from an 11.2 oz bottle and got a huge sudsy, rocky head that really slowed down my pour. That carbonation stayed around in the beer and affected the mouthfeel in my opinion. It didn't end up being as creamy as I would have expected from a 7.5 ABV oatmeal stout. Smell was nice espresso but somewhat restrained. Taste was soft bakers chocolate and coffee. Decent beer but not stellar.

L: Was pretty dark brown, closing in on a blackish tone. There was absolutely no head on this, which was a little disappointing.

S: Slight Espresso and some earthy notes

T: Coffee and espresso notes, some dark chocolate , a slight taste of dirt and a little flat.

F: Medium body, not too thin. Very low in carbonation.

O: Its an alright beer, nothing special to be honest. But my bottle may be a little older, so I would like to do another review with t a fresher bottle.

330ml bottle poured into a snifter.

Jet inky black in color, it tops with thin foamy tan head that stays for a while and dissipates to some bubble film atop and leaves some lacing patch and spot on the glass-side.

Really nice espresso and black coffee aroma, it also reminds me of cocoa powder, some chocolate, roasted, charred nut, some smoke and charcoal, some caramel and vanilla, dark bread and licorice, yet some mild scent of earthy, leafty, and citrusy hop.

The taste is purely about the coffee business that is reminiscent of good black coffee and espresso. It is as well with bold roasted, slight coffee sour, subtle chocolate, and slight cocoa. Dark bread is undertone together with oat, charred nut, and charcoal in order to let hop participated with its mild citrus, some bitterness and earthiness. The end is wrapped up and lingered by the overwhelming coffee flavor.

Medium to rather bold body with some crisp and medium carbonation, not much sticky, finish is dry.

This one is still a bit far from my favorite Beer Geek Brunch Weasel, however, it is good as it is and not too sweet by mainly focusing on the coffee character, good morning coffee.

L - Pitch black with a thin beige head

S - Coffee, chocolate, herbal hoppiness, a bit boozy, very promising smell

T - A lot of coffee, a perfect balance, roasted malts, cocoa powder, light hop presence in the taste. Oat is there no doubt.

M - Nice fine carbonation

O - A great beer, a perfect balance. I think this beer is underrated here. I'd love to have such a breakfast but you can definitely tell each part of this breakfast

Poured from the bottle into a glass.

Brown/black hue.

Tan head; strong lace.

Citrus & roasted coffee nose-smells like a black IPA!

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Orange citrus meets black coffee bitterness; truly breakfast themed! Cascading, refreshing...a tasty treat.

The beer is black with a foamy chocolate brown head that lasted a while. The beer smells a ton of coffee and roast with a hint of dark chocolate and the sweetness of dark fruits very light on the hops. The beer tastes. The taste is similar to the smell. Lots of roast and bitterness of coffee upfront and then a slight sweetness, still light on the hops. Dry finish, medium bodies, nice carbonation in the mouth feel.

L: Dark brown/black. Dark brown head, not much though
S: Floral, light coffee
T: Initial sweetness, about to be overpowering but it is not, reels back and the coffee comes in, quite balanced. Lacking a bit of an aftertaste but that is not so bad since the beer is very heavy already.
F: Crisp, not syrupy-sweet-thick. Not too much carbonation but crisp.

Very nice stout- more on the sweet side but not too much to make it bad

16,9 oz bottle that the other 351 countries in the world would call 500ML.

Black. Smells like chocolate, coffee, & cream. I bet my wife is going to love this.

Beer Geek Breakfast isn’t messing around. Taste more like coffee than any beer I’ve sampled, but without that nasty watery grounds taste of real coffee, since this one has some body. Moderate bitterness, vanilla creamer, fall nuts. Creamy & dry simultaneously. 250ML is about right for this non-coffee drinking boy.

Bit heavy-handed, even my coffee-addicted wife says she “can’t taste the beer”. Pretty good.

Appearance: Deep black in snifter at the Louisville Hop Cat.

Aroma: Dark fruit, coffee. Rich and heavy-duty already!

Taste: Very smooth coffee, with more dark fruit underneath. This one feels like a milk stout, it’s sooooo smooth going down. Sweet most of the way until a bitter smack at the end. Really a superb, top-tier brew here.

Smell of coffee Taste of malt, coffee, some chocolate, weak alcohol taste Overall for me is a smooth stout that doesn’t the sour/spicy aftertaste. Medium to thick body. I could drink this for breakfast that’s for sure. A good 4.0!

11.2oz bottle purchased for $5.99 at either Bottles, in Millwood, WA, or Enoteca, in Post Falls, ID (probably the latter). According to the stamp on the otherwise plain, silver bottle cap, this is best before September 9, 2020.

Poured into a River City snifter, this had a tremendously big and sudsy, mocha colored head that necessitated pouring in stages over about 20 minutes. Oh, well, gave it a chance to warm up a bit more. Even when held up to light, this beer gave away nothing, like a drinkable black hole.

Surprisingly free, initially, of coffee notes in the aroma for something billed as an “Oatmeal Stout Brewed with Coffee.” As it continued to warm (and I gave it a lot of time to do so), a little coffee bitterness emerged, but more so a sharp, herbal hoppy note and charred, roasted malt notes. Also some spicy, cinnamon-like notes that I didn’t expect.

The taste was mildly spicy, with herbal, earthy hop notes and a mild coffee flavor that’s light on roastiness but packs a lot of bitterness. There’s a little bit of cocoa-y sweetness way in the background but it’s pretty dim. Dry zap at the swallow.

The body was a little thin for what I was expecting, with a mildly creamy mouthfeel.

I had high hopes for this, being a fan of stouts and coffee, and felt like neither aspect came through in a creditable way. Guess I’ll stick with the weasel poop version, which, while considerably more expensive per ounce, was a much more enjoyable drinking experience

11.2oz bottle, stamped BF 9/9/20 on the cap. Pours jet black with a medium sized dark khaki head. Smells of char, earthy hops, cocoa, oats, roasted malt, and some subtle coffee. The taste follows exactly with char, hops, cocoa, oats, roasted malt, and some coffee; medium intensity. Fairly strong bitterness throughout and some dryness in the finish. Somewhat thin body but with a coating feel and average carbonation; pretty drinkable. Overall, I would have liked less char/earthiness and more coffee in this one, but it's pretty drinkable.

L - In a beer tulip it pours a beautiful deep dark brown with a massive coffee colored head that takes forever to dissipate. Took literally 7 - 8 minute to pour.

S - Dirt, biscuit, coffee, grass. Very Earthy.

T - Coffee, cinnamon, Earthy grains, booze. Aftertaste is bittersweet with more coffee.

F - Syrupy, maybe a bit over carbonated.

O - It's OK I did enjoy it for a morning beer on a day off but I am not sure I would buy it again.

Pours a silky and luscious dark brown and sits close to black in the glass with a thin ring of dark brown foam.

Freshly brewed coffee, tons of roasty goodness, some light bitter chocolate notes, and some subtle vanilla/cream character.

The coffee, roast, chocolate, and vanilla comes out in flavor, but seems rather muted in comparison to the aroma.

Medium-bodied, medium carbonation, rich, bitter, roasty.

Overall, not too shabby. Wish this had a stronger flavor, but overall pleasing.

A - Pours black with a two finger foamy tan head.

S - Aroma is black coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malts.

T - The flavor follows the nose. Strong black coffee upfront followed by dark chocolate and roasted malts. There is a faint amount dark fruits in the finish.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Crisp mouthfeel with a dry finish.

O - A very solid coffee stout. Would make a nice substitute for your morning cup of joe.

A: Pours a pitch black color with 2 fingers of head that fairly quickly fades down to a small ring of lace around the glass

S: Lots of roast and coffee up front with some dark bakers chocolate in there. Some dark fruits tucked way in the back

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with roasted malt and coffee and then goes into the dark chocolate notes. Bitterness intensifies as the finish nears. Finishes with some char and lingering roast

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A solid and classic coffee oatmeal stout that has a good level of coffee and great drinkability. Indeed makes for a good breakfast/coffee alternative if you have the day off

Poured from a 11.2 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours jet black with a moderate amount of bubbles. Slight finger of tan head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A roasty and earthy dark malt driven aroma with a scent of coffee beans, chocolate, and oats. Upfront scent of French press coffee beans. Dark roasted malt hints of dark chocolate, smoke, oatmeal, biscuit, caramel, nuts, and yeast. Sweet hints of vanilla and brown sugar. Also some hints of earthy hops. A pretty good roasty aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a roasty and earthy dark malt driven taste with notes of coffee beans, chocolate, and oatmeal. Big upfront taste of bitter dark roast coffee beans. Dark roasted malt with notes of dark chocolate, oatmeal, smoke, biscuit, caramel, nuts, and yeast. Sweet taste of vanilla and brown sugar. Some nice earthy hop bitterness as well.

Mouthfeel: Body is on the fuller side of medium. Carbonation is moderate. Slick, drying, and somewhat chewy. Alcohol is hidden well.

Overall: A great Coffee Stout. Big coffee, chocolate, and oatmeal flavor with some nice hop bitterness.

$6.99 bottle poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint.

Appearance: Hard pour into the glass gave a nice, brown creamy head that went away pretty quickly. Not much lace at all. Pitch black in color.

Smell: Roasted malts and I suppose coffee -- really comes off as malts more than anything -- and a definite meaty quality... it smells really smoked meat-like. I'm surprised how much it smells like that and how relatively little it smells like coffee.

Taste/feel: Pretty much identical to the smell. A lot of smoked meat sort of flavors throughout with this beer before it combines with coffee near the finish and ends with a lingering kind of smokiness. Not what I envisioned, based on the name of this beer, as this is umami all over. The mouthfeel is on the thinner side, but not overly so, and the carbonation is nearing the high end... definitely doesn't drink like it's 7.5% ABV ... more like a 5-6% at best.

I enjoy it but I don't. I enjoy it because I like the smoked meat flavors I'm getting with the coffee because it provides a definite "different" experience. I dislike it because I was expecting a hell of a lot more coffee, a silkier mouthfeel, and because, well... it was seven bucks for an 11.2oz bottle. I enjoy it, but it's not a stand out. I'm not sure I'd recommend this at $7 a pop.

330 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 9/7/2015. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy tan head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted oats, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, pine, light smoke/char, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of roast/bready malt, coffee, and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted oats, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, pine, light smoke/char, and roasted/toasted earthiness. Moderate pine and roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, toasted oats, dark bread, light nuttiness, smoke, char, herbal, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, coffee, and earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from hop/roast bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent American styled oatmeal stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, coffee, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
