Appearance: Clear amber with big off white head with good retention and lace.

Aroma: Really unusual: Citrusy hop and milky bananas.

Taste: Citrusy hops, herbal. Sweet malt profile with a hint of honey. Some tropical fruit as it warms. Milky banana flavour continues. This unusual flavour must have something to do with the fact that there is also wheat in this IPA.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full, nice carbonation, dry finish.

Drinkability: A very unusual tasting beer which really has to be tried to be believed, but is so unusual it doesn't seem sessionable. However, a clever achievement.

This beer pours a hazy amber color with a trace of white foamy head that doesn't retain or lace well. The aroma is strong with caramel malt and citrusy hops. The taste starts malt sweet, with lots of caramel, then has some citrusy hops and ends hoppy bitter. The mouthfeel is a little off with an astringent aftertaste. Overall a pretty good take on an American IPA.

Pours a copper-orange colour with thick, soapy white head. Spotty lacing down the glass. At first I smell the hops, then I smell the caramel malt. The taste has pine and citrus hops to accompany the bitterness. Lots of caramel sweetness too makes this very balanced. Very smooth carbonation level makes this an easy drinker. A nice first beer for me from this brewery.

Batch 409 from Mikkeller Stateside American IPA, bb june 2011.

Rough pour leaves me with 1/2 inch of head. Decent carbonation. Nice copper brown colour.

Smell is solid strong hoppy. Pine, grapefruits, floral. Fresh.
Taste is bitterness from hops. Dry aftertaste.
Easy in the mouth, if you like bitterness. Alcohol is not a real problem.
Maybe this brew is a bit one dimensional. The smell is excellent, but that's about it. The taste leaves no real impression but bitterness, making it not really exceptionally drinkable.

Thanks alot to Abrand for this great brew!

Tall pint bottle into a snifter glass

A- Pours a darker golden reddish honey orange with a 2 finger white head on top that leaves spotty lacing on the side as it goes down.

S- Sweet caramel malts up front with a unidentifiable hop nose.

T- Strong hop bitterness hits you first but rather than a hop flavor all you taste is creamy caramel malts.

M- Medium body with moderate carbonation and a strong bitter dryness.

This IPA is decent but I would classify it more as a English IPA rather than American. Barely any hop flavor there, kind of disappointing.

A - Pours a somewhat hazy orangish-amber color with a frothy two-finger off white head. Good retention and light lacing.

S - Citrus hops dominate with a little bit of caramel malt in the background.

T - Taste first hits with some fairly bitter grapefruit and pine hop notes. Well balanced with sweet, caramel malts. Grassy, "earthy" hop aftertaste. Very nice fresh hop bitterness on this one.

M - Medium bodied and quite resinous. Very smooth going down.

D - I really enjoyed this one and found it to be a very drinkable offering. If they weren't almost $10 a piece, I could easily down a few of these in a sitting. Very nice balance of flavors and I enjoyed the hop character and level of bitterness a lot.

From a 22oz into a standard pint.

A- Nice, pale orange with a swiss-cheese head that stays and stays. Spraypaint-like lacing, very impressive.

S- A hop treat. Floral, new-growth pine, and pretty damn good.

T- Nice, floral, piney hops. Good bitter, lingering finish and juust enough malt to round it out. Great bouquet on this. Pine resin, a bit of honeysuckle sweetness and some unripe tropical fruit.

M- Crisp, healthy carbonation, goes down nice, well-balanced composition.

D- Moderately high. A bit pricey, although fantastic going down. Worth getting fresh.

The appearance is dark dark amber going on ruby with minimal head - just soapy lacing

The smell is IPA style with lots of comlex hops but much fainter than I am used to.

The taste is truly IPA but there is NO balancing malt flavour whatsoever so not as good as the best ones

The mouthfeel is light body lighter than I expected but I am drinking this after a Weienbock so will cut some slack...

This beer pours a lovely orangey/amber hue and leaves a nice one finger off white creamy head that hangs around for a little while then dissapates slowly,as soon as i put this beer to my nose you can just smell beautiful aromas of a pine forrest on a nice summers day with citrus and grapefruit aromas present aswell definately a beautiful smelling IPA,the taste is very citrusy with a little bitter edge to it but hardly any bitterness at all just perfect actually, i think the marriage of the hops he used for this beer and the malt was just perfect just so right they counteract each other so well to make this one of the most pleasant IPA's i have ever tasted, once again Mikkeller has not let me down.

Pours clear copper in colour, with a thin head, and heavy carbonation. Clear grapefruit from the cascade hops, along with sharp lemon, pineapple, and the sweetness of caramel in the background. The taste is sweet at the front, with the nutty flavour of praline persisting until the hops deliver a dry bitterness towards the end. Sweet for the style but it's a brilliant interpretation by a brilliant brewery.

This beer was in a 500ml bottle. I poured it into my belled beer glass.

The beer is a deep orange-hued golden color with a slight haze. The head is off-white or light tan, rather healthy and leaves little lacing.

Smells of this beer are like bread on steroids, really yeasty and grainy with a strong citrus hop kick. there is a bit of pine essence as well.

The taste is much as the nose would imply with a added kick to the piny hops and less sweetness than I expected. There is a nice toffee taste and plenty of tartness with a bitter finish.

The mouthfeel is medium and the finish is clean and dry. Carbonation is light but the bitterness balances this nicely.

Drinkability is good but the beer is too bitter and tart to be really quaffable.

I dig this beer. I would really like to get my hands on a set of single-hop IPAs...mmm Danish beer.

On tap at Mikkeller Bangkok
brown and hazy. Really appealing. It smells fruity and pleasant, with a hint of musk and earthy spicy bitterness. The taste is really nice as well. It's as if the abrasive American hops have taken a chillpill while maintaining their essential characteristics. Not muted or stale, just toned down and a bit earthy. The sweetness is golden and really desirable, with a hint of apples. The aftertaste is dry and bitter and moderately lengthy. Recommended.

Served from bottle into a Stone nonic. Poured red-orange with a TON of floaties with a two finger beige head that subsided to a one finger slowly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, bitter hop, and subtle citrus. The flavor was of sweet malt, bitter hop, slight citurs, and BIG bitter yeast. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium high carbonation. Overall I was not a fan of this beer at all. The floaties on this one killed it for me. They were suspended throughout and would not settle even upon sitting for quite some time. The aftertaste left by them was quite terrible and was almost unbearable. This one had sat in the fridge for a few days before opening, so the yeasties should have settled out. Alas, that was not the case. Drain pour after muscling through half the bottle.
